Guided by AFL-CIO coordinators, the opening march on Constitution Avenue lasted for only a couple of blocks. It was smaller than expected due to the inner contradiction of the movement. The unions had bused thousands of workers to DC - but those union members had been specifically trained not to exert themselves and do minimal work unless you paid extra. So they skipped the march and went straight to the designated pens around the reflecting pool and waited there.
Thank Marx for Aids Walk that had just ended at the same location - many of those laymen were instantly absorbed by the march, adding meat to the initial skeleton comprised of a couple hundred activists from unionist, socialist, gay, and anti-religion groups.
Watch out for the two arrows on the road! One points to the right, the other one points to the left. We go to the left because that's where the AFL-CIO guys tell everyone to go.
American Federation of Teachers deservedly walk at the front. No one else in the country is more responsible for helping these young people turn out this way.
"Teachers and Students United" - brought to you by FistYouth.org. As Freud would say, sometimes a fist is only a fist.
Gay AFL-CIO members are a special interest group within a larger special interest group. A double whammy!
Jobs and education are rights - just like in the Soviet constitution! Which means, of course, that they have to be provided by the government at the expense of all other rights.
"Freedom to serve" doesn't mean this young man is an eager waiter. He is part of SLDN, a group agitating to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy in the military. It's doubtful any of the SLDN members would have volunteered to serve anyway. What motivates them? The same thing that motivates all the others marching along. The issue is not the issue: the revolution is the issue.
Stop bitching and start a revolution!
The "Got Jobs?" question has no meaning in this context unless it's asked ironically by a Tea Party infiltrator. Otherwise, it's pretty obvious that the more their demands are met, the fewer jobs will remain in the private sector.
How about making just one big sign that would summarize all their wishes? It would read, "Dear Santa, I want a time machine that would take me to the radiant communist future!"
This "billionaire" is a walking example of the Left's conspiratorial mentality. Little wonder the sign next to him says "Socialism is the alternative." Had he thought a little harder, he might have put on the Soros mask. Then his sign would be closer to the truth, and have a completely opposite meaning.
"Stop robbing from the middle class to pay the rich" might be a Tea Party sign opposing unionization and crony capitalism. But here its only meaning is the redistribution of wealth.
"Government of the people, by the people, for the people - not the special interests!" would also look appropriate at a Tea Party. It looks awkward next to a union activist representing the most vocal and the most destructive special interest group in the nation. To complete the absurdity, her shirt reads "Teamsters - Obama-Biden - Staff" - a clear illustration of special interests merging with the government.
"Vote Democratic" next to a Teachers' Union activist: no special interests in politics, right?
"I'm not a farm worker, but their Union has a cool logo and a red flag, and that's good enough for me. I'm just glad I'm marching with socialists, because if I were with a Tea Party the media would have slapped my shirt on every front page, calling me a Nazi."
This sign has nothing to do with "Quality." It says "Equality," with the first letter obscured by an overzealous activist.
The ultimate logo of equality: the equal sign. It looks great on a flag, which might someday become a national flag of some utopian society where a total equality is enforced by the state. To learn more about how such a society would work, see the next image.
If you're wondering what all these clean, nice-looking people mean by equality, this sign sheds some light (the photo taken at the rally by El Marko).
Che Guevara would have sent this woman to jail for being what she is. He saw homosexuality as a sign of destructive bourgeois decadence - to be encouraged in capitalist societies and severely punished under socialism. He also held negative views of black people in general.
A poetry group in the service of the revolution. No matter how many taxpayer dollars they are absorbing in local and federal grants, it'll never be enough.
"Angry Gay Taxpayer." Are gay tax dollars different from non-gay tax dollars? I thought money didn't smell.
Whatever the Gay and Lesbian Task Force does, is probably best summed up by their suggestive logo describing the decision-making process by two thinking organs.
Of all the signs, the one I liked most was on the back of the red tour bus: "Rock'n'Roll will never Diet."
And one last parting glance... Soon they will join a bigger rally.
