Katrina Reporters: Act Locally, Think Globally

As events unfold in New Orleans, the Third World watches in astonishment

In Mogadishu, militants laughed and fired guns in the air after watching CNN reports on looting in New Orleans.

"With American citizens like that, who needs enemies!" laughed Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys. "I was going to infiltrate America and blow myself up in a shopping mall, but I'll take my chances here, thank you very much!"

Image In Indonesia, Tsunami victims watched the scenes from New Orleans, mouths agape at man's inhumanity to man. "Are those the same people that helped us? I hope they don't come back here again!" said Azwar Abubakar, a ten year old boy. "After the tsunami, we all tried to help each other. In the USA they shoot at the rescuers and attack hospitals! I was thinking of going to college in the USA one day, but I'll take my chances against the terrorists and the tsunamis right here instead!"
Image "I used to think Sao Paolo was a nightmare," said Jose Rainha, sipping a drink on his porch in Boa Vista, Brazil. "I even thought of moving to the United States. But look at these maniacs in the streets! I'll stay right here, thanks!"

Image Naseema Ali of Bagdad, Iraq, was heartbroken as she watched the events unfold in New Orleans. "I went to the polls at risk of life and limb, believing in freedom and the American dream. Now I see that Americans are brutal monsters, worse than Saddam. I want Saddam back."

Image Perhaps happiest of all was Osama Bin Laden. "The Americans were making a move, I have to admit. Some people near me in Baluhistan were starting to think about switching sides!" the arch-terrorist said. "After watching this, they realized that life under the Taliban wasn't so bad after all!"

Osama did have concerns, however. "How am I going to find guys willing to infiltrate America after this? No terrorist worth his salt would dare venture into a place like that now!"
Once again, the Katrina-galvanized voices of our progressive media are reaching their screeching crescendo as they paint a grotesque picture of class struggle, racism, unequal opportunity, and environmental crisis in the United States. Only a lazy, unenlightened reporter would not exploit this convenient and God-sent opportunity to expose the evils of American capitalism and the facilitating Republican administration.

To some it may seem like a battle for the hearts and minds of Americans - but really, comrades, who cares what Americans think? The media sure doesn't, and Americans know it, and they don't trust their media, and the media knows it too.

Progressive schools have taught our reporters to act locally while thinking globally. That is, present local news in a way that helps the global advancement of the Greater Good™. Behind all the petty local bickering, a magnificent global goal gets accomplished - to paint America as a dark, unjust, inhumane hellhole to the rest of the world. The global advancement of the Greater Good™ requires that the worlds' peasants give up any fantasies about American liberties and focus more on obeying their progressive masters.

It's amusing to watch our opponents debunk us in the local media long after our progressive reporting has been rebroadcast, reprinted, and regurgitated all around the world as absolute truth. Nobody listens to Limbaugh outside the US, but everybody watches CNN International and reads the New York Times. So if more and more foreigners have an unfavorable view of America and its people, it speaks volumes of our brilliant strategy.

We can't always convince Americans of the horrors of capitalism, but we can force-feed the rest of the world incessant and unchecked coverage of alleged American evils. Then we interview a foreign citizen whose head is spinning from our unopposed propaganda, and throw his regurgitated opinions back on American audiences. Voila - the weak-minded have no choice but to see how angry the rest of the world is at Americans. Works like a charm.

America's image abroad is being shaped by its media who is working relentlessly to destroy the very image they are being paid to portray objectively and professionally. Propaganda is a one-way street - and we are moving ahead forcefully, red banners held high.

More are joining the global march toward socialism daily - with each fabrication, each skewed article, each half-truth by an American reporter rebroadcast over the world's networks.

Why are progressive Americans helping us against their national interest? Because on a progressive moral scale, "good" is whatever helps the advancement of global socialism!

Purger
Why the media blackout on the mayor? Roll the video of heartless right wing Bush executing the progressive but unhinged Neworlins "mayor".

M. Barry
Go easy on the mayor, believe me, suddenly going cold turkey is no picnic.

Hal I. Burton
Look, I am a Republican, and I would have saved those 450 diesel-burnin' buses for America. Think of the millions of dollars saved, that's all we Republicans care about after all, is dollars and the joy we get from polluting. Of course, to make it look good, I suppose we'd 've had to cram in maybe 100 people on each bus. 45,000 people in one trip, ya that wuold cover up our real motives. BWAHH HA HA HA!

New Orleans' Holdouts Coaxed From Homes

Meanwhile, firefighters battled blazes around New Orleans an emerging threat in a city where the water pressure is too low to fight fires and where many people are using candles because of the lack of electricity. At the same time, workers returning to restart essential services came under sniper fire.

"We have got some information where, some possible shooters have been shooting at some employees trying to get in to the city to actually get it back up and running," police Sgt. Charlie Smith said.

"Well, we found a bunch of abandoned buildings and we are actually going to go ahead and try to retrieve some of these Ak-47s assault rifles that they have been using to shoot at helicopters and some of the people trying to get back into the city to get it back up and running."

Hey Elsworth,
Reminds one of the collapse of civilization in Atlas Shrugged, doesn't it. Unlike some people I believe the veneer of civilization is very thick - it takes years, decades for the ideals of civilization to disappear from the hearts and minds of people. And then it only requires one good disaster for the jungle to return. Thanks Elsworth, you've done your job well.

A Fellow Traveler.
I'm sure you're all familiar with the cheap shots the Right is throwing - trying to blame the crisis on Louisiana's governor and New Orleans mayor. Now they're sinking to new lows. Now they're trying to blame environmentalists!

Yes, and the Revolutionary McLenin's establishment has special "Red" McVodka throughout the purge season - tinted with the blood of the bourgeois Amerikan counter-revolutionaries!

User avatar
Mmmm... blood. A favorite of Hillary's if I'm not mistaken.

You know I've never really thought of it but you're right! I think a plausible Michael Moore "style" of movie could be made to "clearly prove that Hillary is in fact a vampire!"

Seriously, look at her - I wouldn't want to meet her under a full moon in a graveyard alone! (which is where you'd probably find Hillary on any given full moon)

But then I guess I wouldn't meet her at Disneyland either, so, that doesn't prove too much - but I'll bet Moore would have easy time of it connecting Hillary's ancestral lines to that of Count Dracula or something. It'll be TransylvaniaGate - a good topic considering the season, don't you think?

User avatar
Absolutely! I wonder why we haven't heard from her in a while. I hope someone didn't get here with a wooden steak. If that happened, the masses wouldn't have anyone to worship!

The Times-Picayune and The Sun Herald won for coverage of Hurricane Katrina while The Post won for investigative reporting, explanatory reporting, beat reporting and criticism.

How many Pulitzer-worthy stories did Washington Post publish about the Nashville flood in May, 2010? Zero. The scale of the disaster and human loss were similar. Why the difference in attitude? This 4-minute video provides some clues. (For politically loyal eyes only).
