A Tale of Two Cities: Hiroshima & Detroit Today

User avatar
Guess which picture is Hiroshima and which one is the auto capital of the world?

Image

That's right, the second one is Detroit.

Remember, comrades, if you want to erase your enemy from the face of the earth forever, forget the A-Bomb. Target them with "economic equality and justice." It'll give any nuclear program a run for its money. Hiroshima only survived a nuclear blast. The bomb dropped on Motown was more destructive because it permanently neutralized the population's rational faculties, incapacitating their spirit and the will to live. And the best part, there's a lot more of that weapon where it came from!

But shhhh... Remember - it's the Pentagon and the military-industrial complex that are the war mongers and the death merchants. And that's the Current Truth.

User avatar
One was hit with Little Boy the other was hit with Liberalism

User avatar
More views of Detroit. And BTW, the main ingredient of the bomb is called United Auto Workers.

If we really want to stop the leakage of jobs to China, we should leak them our unions. Then we can get our jobs back, restore fair prices, and start rebuilding, while watching China regress into the Dark Ages. Not that I wish that fate to anyone - that's just too cruel. In fact, perhaps NASA should look into developing a vessel to launch our union bosses to the moon instead of the Muslims.

User avatar
Forgive me comrade, what I mean to say. See the evils of capitalism on display and the glories of wealth that is spread about to the masses.

User avatar
Here's a thread about it on Democratic Underground. Guess what the title is?

Detroit's Beautiful, Horrible Decline

And the answer is?

"Yes, we are in trouble and too many of our leaders look at Wall Street instead of Main Street."

User avatar
It is of no consequence to the party. The former workers have been given jobs with SEIU. They will never have to face the evils of capitalism again. Only bask in the joys of wealth redistributed.

User avatar
The photos of Detroit remind me of that program on The History Channel, called "Life After People."

Only they never say what kind of people.

User avatar
I was just to be for looking at real estate prospects and they are seeming to be good in such comming up area.

A treasure trove of Marxist history. All of our heroes in one place. Learn why we love them (in theory). Reading about Marxist/collectivist/socialist theory and living it may not perfectly line up. Your mileage may very.

User avatar
Let me be perfectly clear and make no mistake, comrades: Detroit would be a lot worse off if it hadn't been for Obama's Recovery Act. Without his stimulus, you'd be seeing a lot more broken window panes and higher, thicker weeds.

Those photos are undeniable proof that the stimulus is working, and America is finally heading in the right direction.

User avatar
To see what a REAL people's paradise looks like, come take pictures of Zimbabwe!

Amandla!

Obamugabe

User avatar
Pinkie has a point, we'll never know how bad Detroit might be today if not for decades of Democrat control.

Frau, all those "fixer uppers" look like "tear 'em downers."

User avatar
As much as it pains me to admit it, I too think Pinkie is right. After all, without stimulus checks and decades of Democrats running the place, just think how much worse it could be. Can you imagine of those reactionary capitalist thugs of the RepubliKKKans were running the show? Always looking to make a profit.

User avatar
Dear Comrade Red Square:

Do you realize that the fundamental difference between Detroit and Hiroshima was that a DЭMOCЯAT President detonated a nuclear bomb in the latter?

Perhaps if the Dэaя Lэadэя nuked Detroit, it could regain its glowing place in urban prosperity.

Then again, Truman was an old school Liberal President, while the Dэaя Lэadэя is a nuveau Pяogяэssivэ Pяэsidэnt.

User avatar
MY MY MY, I am most shocked surprised taken aback. That looks so much like the Gulag... you're sure it's Detroit??

#1 Targeting the economics of a city or nation is a glorious idea if you wish to destroy redistribute their wealth, is it not?!

#2 This is Bush fault, straight up! We must impeach him!

oh, yeah, well, umm, too late... never mind that....

#3 In deed, we can be most relieved that Obama's stimulus has stimulated Detroit and the economy to the point they are on recovery. They really 'missed the bullet' on that one.

Comrade Whoopie, are you of needing the glasses????

Since when am I to be of looking of the Fraulein??

User avatar
OH! Comradess Mrs. Al, you are of such loveliness! I love your head ornamentation, except that it look so similar to mine, it could be identical. It really shows up your glorious beard, as well.
As for Comrade Whoopie, I have concerns he has spent too much time in the video store being "distracted" from that which is at hand. Maybe a good wallop is in order or a week of toil in the beet fields?

User avatar
You must excuse me, I'm still a bit dizzy from having taken a whacking for the People's Director in another thread.

User avatar
No, no, no. You took that whacking, but it happened several days ago. Don't you look at the dates on these posts? Oh that's right. Pinkie's shovel transcends space and time. She whacked you straight into next Tuesday. Poor you. Would you like me to simply redistribute your lifeforce and bring in a less whacked Whoopie from another dimension?

User avatar
'Tis but a scratch Col. I'll be fine.

(Pinkie hits like a girl)

User avatar
Awww... I haven't personally gotten involved with the Lifespan Duration Security Administration for a while. It's something of an honor really. I don't muck around with the common proles. Much classier than the old and foolish capitalist notion of the Death figure. Death doesn't wear a robe and carry a scythe. Death drives a Lada and packs a TT-33.

User avatar
Pinkie is right. The stimulus is working. Detroit will have gone from MoTown to NoTown to ObamaTown, in the course of one generation. Hmm. I wonder exactly what ObamaTown will look like? Everything will be free, of course.

And beside, what brought Detroit to its state was an evil conspiracy of Ayn Rand followers who just wanted to make one of the prophesies in Atlas Shrugged come true.

User avatar
Leninka - I was also thinking of the 20th Century Motors when I looked at those pictures. How did she know? These things weren't happening yet in 1957 when Atlas Shrugged was published.

User avatar
Comparing Detroit to 20th Century Motors is accurate and we've learned from it and Detroit can never happen again. Life is an experiment. Things happen. But if we don't try new things how can society advance? Atlas Shrugged was about railroads and an industrial age that is long over so really Atlas Shrugged doesn't have anything to say anymore. Our country isn't the same industrialized place it once was. The industrial age is over. So Ayn Rand's ideas don't apply anymore. Now, in this post-industrial age, the government is helping to create sustainable renewable energy by eliminating coal and oil from the economy. This is a bold new experiment on a national scale. Don't let images of Detroit and outmoded ideas from Atlas Shrugged stop human progress! At Halliburton Clean Energy division we're working on ways to convert government subsidies into Green. Green energy, I mean. Detroit was once the world of tomorrow - let's all pitch in and make Detroit the world of today.

User avatar
[OFF]
I see your point Haliburton. Of course the industrial age came about through the initiative of private citizens who exploited new inventions and innovations to build self sustaining companies. No government mandated it.

While all these green energy gimmicks look good on paper, not one of the companies who try to produce the stuff in practice could survive without massive gov. subsidies. It's like the perpetual motion machine that won't run without the regular introduction of a shove to get them going and keep them running. Withdraw that periodic nudge and the machine soon peters out. At that point they cease to be profitable enterprises and degenerate into an exercise in vanity.

User avatar
Comrades, the UИITЭD AUTO WOЯKЭЯS has come up with a winning design Green SUV to revive Detroit:

Image Luxury Class.

This SUV has ONE horsepower, but it is exactly what the Proles must will aspire to, once we are done changing America into Amэяika.

Image Economy Class.

Image Which oиэ is your pick?

Leninka! This is fabulous idea! As with old (sniff....wipe tear from eye) USSR, we should emulate the meaning of the true Collective Consciousness, and rename cities! Detroit should be named "Obamagrad" in honor of our Dear Glorious Leader!

User avatar
Thank you, Comrade Boris. Any city that Dear Leader touches with bailouts and handouts and special assistance deserves his name.
