Ermächtigungsgesetz : The Nazi-driven Enabling Act (of 1933) which, via a highly manipulated Reichstag (think House) vote, put Germany on the slide to dictatorship.

DER SPIEGEL : Kinda German TIME, struts as "opinion leader" of German print MSM. Once upon a time investigative (and manipulative), it's now a bit tabloidy and (as usual) manipulative - with, uh, a "progressive" bent (since mid 90s).

The wilting German MSM (press + TV) are pretty gleichgeschaltet (= marching in lockstep) since, say, 2010. Now on their marching flag, post-November-8th : villainous madman Trump.
It's all just rumination & regurgitation of "content" being courageously & heroically generated across the Big Pond under the glorious ledership of NYT & Co.

The hysteria is farcical, and seething, and vicious - all at once. And getting monotonous.

The horrors bred in the 12 years of Hitlerism are undeniable, and some of them of unique inhumanity. It's unerasably written into the history of Germany and the history of Germans. It happened here, and it wasn't stopped - despite attempts (which all failed).

The history of many (most?) nations includes bouts of ideological madness, brutal conquests, systemic slavery, death camps, extermination. The Nazi time exterminations were unique in their "industrial" planning and execution (both in dimensions and manner). That's not forgotten here, and not hushed up - from public disputes of historians, down to any (thinking) individual.

Yet all that has been turned - over time, and since '68 - into, indeed, self-flagellation. And it is, indeed, imposed - self-imposed and sustained.

It starts with school, where "German history" is near reduced to "3rd Reich and thereafter". It goes through the "public discourse", where "moral" preening is ever-present, and the prospect of personal destruction threatens any dissenter. That "moral preening" is - of course - a consciously maintained tool to (politically) divide and intimidate, and thusly prevail.

Finally, the self-flagellation goes also into Realpolitik, constantly obsessed with: Vee Chermans, vee must show ze Werld zat vee are now ze Meisters of moral superiority, and vee are not at all a Nation, and vee are Socialism but vitz no at all National.

(The Refugee Welcome mania is many things, a central one being exactly the vee-are-no-Nation self-flagellation.)

It seems that Germany is now practicing a reverse Nazism. While Nazis wanted the Germans to dominate the world while subjugating and eliminating other nations, reverse Nazism leads to the subjugation of the German nation with the prospect of its effective elimination.

Both ideas are insane and utterly immoral.

This is similar to the reverse racism in the U.S. Instead of destroying the whip of slavery, this whip was promptly picked up by political hustlers (both black and white) who have been whipping America for decades, bending it to their will.

Rudyard Kipling wrote of the "white man's burden" - carrying the Western civilization to others, which has had a mostly positive effect on the world. Whatever happened to it? "White man's burden" hasn't disappeared. It's become even heavier now after its content had been replaced with white guilt. Since then its effect on the world has become mostly negative.

Maybe Rachel Dolezal had it right after all.
