California Considers Creating 'Fake News Advisory Group'

In an attempt to show that George Orwell's book, 1984 was an instruction manual, and not a warning, California is considering creating a “fake news” advisory group in order to monitor information posted and spread on social media.

Here is Winston Smith at work in the records department of the Ministry of Truth.

Senate Bill 1424 would require the California Attorney General to create the advisory committee by April 1, 2019. It would need to consist of at least one person from the Department of Justice, representatives from social media providers, civil liberties advocates, and First Amendment scholars.

The advisory group would be required to study how false information is spread online and come up with a plan for social media platforms to fix the problem. The Attorney General would then need to present that plan to the Legislature by December 31, 2019. The group would also need to come up with criteria establishing what is “fake news” versus what is inflammatory or one-sided.

Oh happy day! I was getting sooo tired of using my brain to discern what news is real. Thankfully our esteemed superiors are finally doing something about that pesky First Amendment.

which translates from secret government code to meaning it would eventually become another blown out self-important public funded bureau agency......and just only online content?

It is noteworthy that the fake news agency in charge of the current truth would be born on April 1st, which is not only Fools Day, but also the birthday of this very Party Organ.

Great progressive minds think alike!

It is simply not possible that The People—educated by The State—are incapable of discerning the difference between The Current Truth and fake news produced by malcontents, insurgents, subversives, cranks, investigative journalists, the mentally ill and other hooligans. But—out of an abundance of caution—California will now lead the way in ensuring that non State-Approved news is beaten down, publicly ridiculed, discredited, tarred, feathered, pilloried, drawn, quartered, condemned, and—if not crushed in the first round—sent to well-prepared gulags in the friendly States of Oregonia and Washingtonistan.

What a great government Californians have; a government that knows that its citizens and illegal alien voters should not have to be burdened by thinking for themselves and instead should enjoy the great benefit of having a State that does the thinking for them by controlling what news their elected officials and appointed bureaucrats and selected cronies deem truthful and which news reveals their corruption deceives The People.

Kalifornia, Über Alles!
