Kent, OH - Kicking an extra point just inside the right upright and slightly over the crossbar, last Saturday Kent State University kicker April Goss became the second woman to score in a major college football game. Her resolute performance earned Goss swift congratulations from university faculty and adoration on social media.

The courageous kick came at the 4:30 mark in the second quarter after a touchdown put Kent State in the lead over St. Clare's College for the Blind 28-6.

Following the touchdown, starting kicker Shane Hynes initially went on the field, but coach Paul Haynes quickly recognized the crucial importance of the extra point attempt and used one of the team's valuable timeouts to send in Goss.

Staring down a century of male domination in college football that had first been stared down in 2003, Goss valiantly kicked the ball within tolerances.

She immediately was patted on her posterior by nearly all of her teammates, received hugs from the coaching staff, and earned personal congratulations from university president Dr. Beverly Warren.

As Goss jubilantly accepted the key to the city in a ceremony at mid-field, Shane Hynes was seen rolling his eyes and muttering that he'd already kicked two extra points in the game.

Uh-oh. I trust these teammates and coaches obtained written permission before patting her on said posterior and administering said hugs. If not ... Rape Culture! Rape Culture!

"Kent State kicker April Goss (91) watches the flight of a football during warmups..."

Cut Goss some slack. What do you expect from a 91 year old?

The school put out a press release about that. They were gender-neutral butt pats, and it's university tradition for coaches to give warm, fatherly hugs and short back rubs to all players that try their hardest.

I am sure Commissarka Pinkie could kick further than that.
