Obama's Red Line and DEFCON Alert Level

Support for missile strike fades:

After warning Syria a year ago that using chemical weapons would constitute crossing that line, the president's first option -- given evidence that chemical weapons were used in a deadly attack against civilians -- was an immediate cruise missile strike. He's positioned warships offshore in preparation.

Yet Obama watched Thursday as British lawmakers rose up against Prime Minister David Cameron and rejected participation in any military action, putting his red line doctrine to the test. Obama now has to wait for France, or some other ally, to step up, or go it alone.
But his administration already has outlined to U.S. lawmakers a range of options in Syria that don't include lobbing cruise missiles at Assad's airfields.

And while lawmakers are accusing Obama of trying to save face with a quick missile strike, Obama never overtly threatened Assad with missiles when he spoke of the "red line" last August. He merely said that crossing it "would change my equation."

To that point, here are what appear to be Obama's other "red line" options:

OH! Dear! That looks like my neighbor! But then, he's Teabagger so it doesn't matter.

Syria's Assad should be given a serious talking to after calling Dear Leader's Bluff™. Maybe wagging a finger at him while delivering a severe, poker-faced dressing down of this puny despot will do the trick. Dear Leader is not kidding this time and if you don't believe him well, just ask him.

Fear not, whatever Dear Leader (PBUH) decides or decides against, he will not be mocked.

Time to revive The Progressive's 8-Step Guide to Dealing With a Bully, in this case, Syria.

https://thepeoplescube.com/peoples-blog ... t6902.html

THE PROGRESSIVE'S 8-STEP GUIDE TO DEALING WITH A BULLY:

1. Announce that the bully's behavior is unacceptable.

2. Should they continue behaving unacceptably, we tell them that their unacceptable behavior cannot be allowed to continue.

3. Should the unacceptable behavior continue anyway, then we tell them that we really mean what we said.

4. If they're still behaving unacceptably, then we remind them that we really, REALLY do mean what we said, and that we're not just saying that.

5. Should this result in only more unacceptable behavior, we tell them that this time, we're serious.

6. If that doesn't work (and it usually doesn't, but we Progs pride ourselves on retaining faith in the inherent goodness of our fellow man and our own ability to make others see reason), then we inform them that we may have to consider scheduling an appointment to go to Geneva, where we will meet with fellow peace-loving Progs to discuss the possibility of approaching the U.N. with a request for permission to advise the bullies that we may have to impose sanctions.

7. If that doesn't work, then we travel to some glamourous resort to attend a U.N. Conference on Global Sustainability, then fly to another resort to address a symposium on the need to keep funding the U.N. as the world's events prove that we simply cannot hope to live in peace without it.

8. If, by this time, the unacceptable behavior has spread and can no longer be contained, go back to Step 1 and start over, and have faith that this time, we'll get different results.

Though perhaps we should update Item 7 to read, "If that doesn't work, then our newly appointed U.N. ambassador will take a personal trip to Ireland that we don't have to explain because it's, well, personal."

Dear Leader Obama's Red Lines remind me of the monopoly scene in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

This reminds me of a previous Dear Leader, Comrade Bill. Perhaps the delay in launching a punishing, expensive and ever so effective cruise missile strike is that we can't locate a suitable aspirin factory? I do hope that the collective is successfully distracted from whatever "Bimbo Eruption" our current dear leader wishes to remain unnoticed.
