The Primary Election for Sept. 19 in King County, WA is probably representitive of elections across the nation. I thought I'd post this excerpt out of the Voters' Pamphlet so you could see the choices the Workers in Washington State have in the race for United States Senator.
As you can see the Democrats are running highly nuanced campaigns bursting with fresh ideas. Probably the most exciting are the first three candidates. I'd really like to vote for Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson but his talk about "world-wide free trade" sounds like a sell-out sop to big business. I don't like that.
The Republicans are running with the same jingoistic black-and-white hate-filled sneering xenophobic warmongering class-warfare nonsense as always. Get a load of William Edward Chovil in particular. Now there is the true face of American Fascism.

Some centuries have greatness in them. In about the last hundred years, we humans developed cars, radios, airplanes, movies, television, and computerization. We moved from the Horse and Buggy Age into the start of the Space Age. Now a great goal for this new century is Orbital Space Colonization. Let's build the Fantastic Future! Let's spread the life of Spaceship Earth out into our Solar System!
With help from NASA, let's start the seeds of several small and growing orbital space colonies in orbit around Earth, around the Moon, and around Mars. With all the money we have already spent on our space programs, we should already have these growing, orbital space colonies. Unfortunately, much of our space money has been wasted. It is as if our leaders have not been educated in orbital space colonization. The waste and destruction of taxpayers' space property show a lack of understanding of space colonization.
Also, we should replace war on our Spaceship Earth with world-wide free trade. It doesn't make sense to bomb world-wide customers and suppliers. World peace and education and employment should also be our big goals.
Let's use our unemployed people! Unemployment is a huge waste! Our government should back its minimum wage by employing those who apply (including people with problems).
Because some workers want more leisure, government should lead by creating many flexible employment programs, such as the three day and four day work week options.
Let's establish a head tax to slow the population explosion (the cause of many problems) on our Spaceship Earth. A head tax would be more pleasant than the old, cruel methods of population control, such as starvation, disease, and war.

At last minute I decided to file for U.S. Senate, Democratic. Every day I put Washington first, fighting to make energy, health care, and education affordable for families in King County. I succeeded in toughening our privacy laws.
America needs a strong foreign policy, but it's time for other countries, like Iraq, to provide their own security. U.S. troops should start coming home this year.
I stood up to Republicans and big oil companies to stop increased supertanker traffic in Puget Sound, fought and beat Enron when they tried to charge Washingtonians millions for energy they never delivered, and when President Bush tried to increase our energy rates almost forty percent, I joined with others and blocked the increase.
With meth addictions soaring and identity theft on the rise, I delivered critical money so local law enforcement can fight these problems.
Many families need help to pay for the dream of a college education. With the help of federal financial aid, I was the first in my family to graduate from college.
I fought to fully fund No Child Left Behind and protect important education programs from Republican cuts.
I'm fighting for our seniors by working to lower drug costs for Americans, stopping efforts to privatize Social Security and working for a better Medicare benefit that delivers real, affordable prescription drug coverage.

Hello, I am Warren and I have a deep love of America and would like to see Americans, here centuries after you, my fellow citizen, and I are no longer alive, enjoy life at least close to what we now enjoy. I fear that over the thirty years since I first campaigned for the U.S. Senate and stated that we should stop the influx of illegal aliens and reduce the legal immigration that our problems are now almost unsolvable ? I said “almost” and it will be difficult. If you are satisfied the way things are going then you certainly will want to cast your vote for one of the other candidates of either party.
I am issue-driven…running not for self-power, but only because Congress does not address important issues: secure borders, birth citizenship only to citizens' children, English national language, pressuring Canada to treat sewage discharge into our common waters (Victoria only screens), prior congressman lobbyists, 12-year term limits, congressional financial waste in staff operations and mailouts, and huge campaign expenditures.
We must seek enforcement of legal hiring practices and require illegal aliens to promptly register and to voluntarily leave within one year or be guilty of felony as would new entries.
I served over 20 years active and reserve military time combined; first as an enlisted National Guardsman and then as Midshipman and Naval Officer including the command of a Naval Reserve Unit. Throughout life I have worked hard ? garbage hauling, newspaper sales, yardwork, farming, logging, commercial fishing, real estate sales, house building, marine sales, and now as a Tacoma Union Longshoreman still capable of a 20-hour day and 100-hour week. For my years I am in excellent health and quite strong (BP ? 118/66 – no addictions).

However, as we look over the next decade and beyond, to safeguard freedom for this and future generations, our economy must overcome a number of urgent challenges including: high discretionary budget deficits above $400 billion per year; national debt surpassing $8 trillion dollars; high trade deficits exceeding $700 billion per year; rising energy prices and 420 million gallons-per-day of foreign crude oil imports; aging baby-boomers with insufficient retirement savings and uncertain corporate pension obligations; expected shortfalls in Medicare Trust Fund amid rising costs of healthcare; lagging U.S. enrollment in science and engineering education; and ongoing costs of war against terrorism.
Each single issue can be solved easily with American ingenuity and perseverance. However, when viewed collectively, the potential challenges to our long-term prosperity become apparent. We can overcome these challenges if we begin work today, put aside partisan bickering and develop solutions that are both affordable and reflect American values. Hello, I am Warren and I have a deep love of America and would like to see Americans, here centuries after you, my fellow citizen, and I are no longer alive, enjoy life at least close to what we now enjoy. I fear that over the thirty years since I first campaigned for the U.S. Senate and stated that we should stop the influx of illegal aliens and reduce the legal immigration that our problems are now almost unsolvable ? I said “almost” and it will be difficult. If you are satisfied the way things are going then you certainly will want to cast your vote for one of the other candidates of either party.
I am issue-driven…running not for self-power, but only because Congress does not address important issues: secure borders, birth citizenship only to citizens' children, English national language, pressuring Canada to treat sewage discharge into our common waters (Victoria only screens), prior congressman lobbyists, 12-year term limits, congressional financial waste in staff operations and mailouts, and huge campaign expenditures.
We must seek enforcement of legal hiring practices and require illegal aliens to promptly register and to voluntarily leave within one year or be guilty of felony as would new entries.
I served over 20 years active and reserve military time combined; first as an enlisted National Guardsman and then as Midshipman and Naval Officer including the command of a Naval Reserve Unit. Throughout life I have worked hard ? garbage hauling, newspaper sales, yardwork, farming, logging, commercial fishing, real estate sales, house building, marine sales, and now as a Tacoma Union Longshoreman still capable of a 20-hour day and 100-hour week. For my years I am in excellent health and quite strong (BP ? 118/66 – no addictions).

However, as we look over the next decade and beyond, to safeguard freedom for this and future generations, our economy must overcome a number of urgent challenges including: high discretionary budget deficits above $400 billion per year; national debt surpassing $8 trillion dollars; high trade deficits exceeding $700 billion per year; rising energy prices and 420 million gallons-per-day of foreign crude oil imports; aging baby-boomers with insufficient retirement savings and uncertain corporate pension obligations; expected shortfalls in Medicare Trust Fund amid rising costs of healthcare; lagging U.S. enrollment in science and engineering education; and ongoing costs of war against terrorism.
Each single issue can be solved easily with American ingenuity and perseverance. However, when viewed collectively, the potential challenges to our long-term prosperity become apparent. We can overcome these challenges if we begin work today, put aside partisan bickering and develop solutions that are both affordable and reflect American values.
