As physician general, Dr. Levine made significant strides combating the opioid epidemic and advocating on behalf of the LGBTQ population. She spearheaded the efforts to establish opioid prescribing guidelines and establish opioid prescribing education for medical students. She also led an LGBTQ workgroup for the governor's office which has worked to create programs and processes that are fair and inclusive in healthcare, insurance, and many other areas. Recently, Dr. Levine was recognized as one of NBC's Pride 30, a national list of 30 people who are both members of and making a difference in the lives of the LGBTQ community."

Dr. Rachel Levine is a rarity in politics: Her appointment as the Pennsylvania Physician General, the state's top doc, was unanimously unopposed by both parties in the state senate.

Oh, and she happens to be transgender.

Levine is one of very few out transgender government officials; the list of trans elected and appointed officials includes the Defense Department's Amanda Simpson, Virginia State Health Commissioner Marissa Levine (no relation), and a tiny scattering of people serving on commissions, city councils and committees.

Why is there not a single female>trans>male among our highest-ranking trans officials? This is an outrage and we need to start talking loudly about it.

All the trans-women on this list are former males. That means, they have abandoned their patriarchal systemic male privilege to become underprivileged, persecuted, harassed, barefoot, pregnant, and kitchen-dwelling female-identified persons. Are they insane? What were they thinking? Haven't they heard about the ongoing brutal War on Women?

It's fair to ask, why don't we hear about any female trans officials upgrading their social status by converting to males in order to take advantage of the patriarchy and sexually harass their female-identified employees? Because that's what males do all day, as we all know.

Also, what is a "trans official"? Someone who wasn't an official but made a status-changing surgery to become an official? Where do they make such surgeries and are they covered by Obamacare? Does a visit to Jiffy-Lobo qualify as a status-changing surgery - and do all of us regular patients already are listed as officials in various government organizations but nobody told us? If so, who is collecting our government-size rations?
