Dearest Comrades: Whilst I was pedalling my way home from the turnip fields, I reflected on the glorious advances made by The Party. It occurred to me, however, that two of our dearest prog ideals could turn into a brain-melting paradox of universe-rending proportions!

Consider this, if you dare, fellow People: What if glorious peoples' geneticists located a gay gene? Glorious day for The Party, no? The evil capitalist pigs would cringe at the thought that homosexuality is not a perversion, or even a choice! But wait!! What if that led to wide-spread abortion of gay fetuses? What would The Party do, protect gay rights, or a woman's right to choose?

I personally cannot fathom the potential answers or their ramifications, so I submit the question to the Kommissars of Current Truth for clarification. Thank you for your time, Comrades.

That is such a simple question, I'm pleased you had to ask it. It shows that public education is working well. The korrekt answer of course is PROTECT THE MINORITY RIGHTS. The right of a gay fetus to exist supersedes the right of an abortion. Of course the mother will be compensated by The Party(TM), and it might be necessary to require another to have an abortion of a white male fetus to ensure that there are fewer of the oppressor class being born. It's all a matter of making sure the most persecuted group has the most protections.

Comrade Colonel, I was beyond speaking. My mouth fell open and now there is drool running down onto the keyboard, I am so deeply impressed with your verbiage and thoughtage. The offered paradox says much about where this world is heading..........it's even better than the " Lifeboat " scenarios teachers introduce to their classes in public schools.

Now I'm not saying we're in hell yet.....we still have a little ways to go on that count.

But I'm also starting to think that I won't be needing my jacket anymore.

I am honored beyond words, in fact I shall frame this and hang it next to all my other awards. Did I ever tell you about the Time Traveler of the Year award I have given myself for the last 5,000 years? Oh yes. This will look good next to them.

I humbly submit, comrades, that we may have a paradox within a paradox. A gay gene could not be sustained within the gene pool except by heterosexual coupling. Would not the gene fizzle without conventional methods of procreation? Or, the more progressive amongst you might argue that the gene arises spontaneously within the gene pool so as to insure that this most beautiful and useful of human characteristics never ceases to exist. The argument is sound. It is indeed frightful to imagine the world without Oscar Wilde, gay hair dressers and interior designers. What would life be without movies like MILK and magazines like GQ?


But, this appears to present a paradox. If the gay gene arises spontaneously, would that make it a mutant? Can a mutant trait be considered normal? It would, by definition, be a deviation from the norm making homosexuality a deviant behavior? Please forgive my presumptiousness. I am only an old and ignorant kulak. I beg your help, comrades. My simple mind is in a swirl and I am unable to think this conundrum through to a Party-approved conclusion.

I was so caught up in the maelstrom of confusion that I lost my way momentarily and neglected the First Directive; Commissar Red Square will be my light and my guide. The good of the collective depends upon prols like me being subordinate to the wisdom of our leaders. Forgive my impudent outburst, comrade. I am but a poor, old and ignorant kulak. Comrade, the Party has no interest in "protecting gay rights" or woman choosing anything. The Party is interested in what is good for the party at the moment. And the Party makes no apologies. The individual is of no concern outside of his usefulness to the State. If supporting alternate lifestyles advances the State then so be it. If alternate lifestyles inhibit the State then purgings, eradications and pogroms will be the correct policy.

"Paradox" is not an approved word when discussing State policy and should be avoided under penalty of educational correction. We will be watching you.
