Progress in Second Amendment reeducation! (get a kleenex)

So, a young son of the al-Blogunov tribe no sooner brings his university level komsomol government text home than I open it to ensure compliance with Party™ Doctrine and the Current Truth™.

Imagine my joy when I saw the commentary on the Second Amendment which corrects the erring views of the Founders with this much more progressive insight. First they quote the Second Amendment…

“Amendment II. (Militia and the Right to Bear Arms)

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

…and then they offer the korrekt interpretation of it…

“To protect itself, each state has the right to maintain a volunteer armed force. States and the federal government regulate the possession and use of firearms by individuals.”

It could hardly get any better than that, especially in its infallible progressive logic. You see, the states protect themselves by prostrating themselves before a federal government which regulates the means by which citizens of the states may arm themselves! This is exactly what “shall not be infringed” means in a living document.

How could that be more clear? It probably also means that a woman's right to an abortion is enshrined in the Constitution - somewhere - but that's another discussion.

But see how wrong Madison gets it in Federalist # 46 when he improperly observes...

"Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. And it is not certain, that with this aid alone they would not be able to shake off their yokes."

In other words, he thinks armed citizens really are a check on the government, not the other way around! And did you see how he thinks Europe is behind America? Every follower of Bernie Sanders knows Europe is so smart, and America is so dumb. How could Madison not know that? And what's wrong with a government yoke? It's why citizens exist, and he makes it sound like a bad thing.

But how wonderful it is to live in this enlightened age! Shakespeare didn't have the aid of Marxist feminist literature professors to properly explain his works to him, just like the founding misogynists didn't have progressive thought and positive law to guide their flawed understanding of the Constitution. But, thanks be to Marx, now we know the truth is whatever is dictated to us. Doesn't it just warm your heart to know there are government texts that get it right?

Komissar al-Blogunov, there is a flaw in your premise! Comrade, many now believe, as the Goracle explained once; the U.S. Constitution is a Living, Breathing Document, and it was most certainly not created to accept abuses from basket case deplorables. That is why a great many enlightened and respected minds, minds like Michael Moore, George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Raul Castro and the entire cast of Hamilton think we should let the International UN and its community of nations review our justice system. Besides, not you, your merit or an old faded document written by a bunch of silly old men in powdered wigs and tight pants should decide things based on relevant issues of yesterday. Yes, we do live in an enlightened age indeed!

The "silly old men in powdered wigs" were all ... white! Yikes and double yikes! For shame, comrades, for shame. This must not be allowed to stand, not after eight years under The Chosen One who has shown us the path to truth, justice and -- no, not the American way, something else entirely.

c'mon... How can you doubt that ?

Even a rube across the Big Pond knows : It's in the penumbras, formed by emanations from guarantees. As discovered by the Social Climate Modeler & Change Accoucheur, Justice Douglas. And there is 97% consensus for this! And Wikipedia says so!
Comrades ‒ wake up to the 21st century, the Era of Unprecedented Progress of Global Citizenry!

... and just wondering : Will the young sprouts of the Nacirema tribe, fueled up on Common Core, be the first generation to goose-step into Glorious Future ?

It looks like they've added an extra comma (or you've mistakenly added one). It should be "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

This is from my copy of "Barnes's School History of the United States" published 1924. They offer no interpretation, the amendment stands only with the others. The only thing they offer is a question in a footnote-style section:

"ARTICLE II. What guarantee is given with regard to the right of bearing arms?"

This question would lead the average schoolkid to know what is true and right: That every American's right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed and protected under the Constitution. Nowadays, they want to make it seem like only the government can have guns and that the average American can't. How far we have slipped.

This living, breathing document of which you speak ... will it attempt to invade my safe space? If so, who will defend me against such a threatening creature?

User avatar
Red Diaperette, while many tireless defenders of the Living, Breathing Constitution may not invade but rather illegally immigrate into your safe space, Progressives, many with past life regressions and armed with their own Levis press on vaginas, living bras, 20 x 30 gun free/coexist signs will actually protect you from rabid Reichblicans or baskets of deplorables, so long as you read these Living, Breathing Constitution creatures their rights, provide them with a court appointed attorney in order to release these Living, Breathing Constitution creatures without bail so that they can prepare a criminal lawsuit in order to convert you to their cause. Remember, all citizens have the same rights, but not the same privileges as progressive psychics; defenders of the Living, Breathing Constitution.

Comrade Dummkopf,

After reading the first few paragraphs of BODY RITUAL AMONG THE NACIREMA I suddenly stopped and thought, "Has Comrade Dummkopf provided the wrong URL? Shouldn't this be titled BODY RITUAL AMONG THE HOLLYWOOD ELITE or, CONFESSIONS OF A PROGRESSIVE CHILD CARE GUIDANCE COUNSELOR?

While we've wandered a little off topic with the superstitious habits of the Nacirema, I was struck by the last sentence,
"Looking from far and above, from our high places of safety in the developed civilization, it is easy to see all the crudity and irrelevance of magic. But without its power and guidance early man could not have mastered his practical difficulties as he has done, nor could man have advanced to the higher stages of civilization."
Darwin made a similar observation about the natives of Tierra del Fuego alleging that such people were our ancestors.
It seems that if a culture is determined enough to reject and suppress the knowledge of the God in whom we live, and move, and have our being, things like this become the future of our civilization.

Would someone tell that "Living, Breathing Document" to knock it off? It's foggin' up the windows and makin' it hard to see where we're goin'!

Alas and Amen, Comrade, Alas and Amen. And I can tell you, from inside the Nanny-State College where I work, that is their goal. All for "The Greater Good", of course. (Watch Hot Fuzz to see how that works out.)

Perhaps a more proper way to describe it is a "Mouth-Breathing Document," which is what progs think anyway.
