We Built This City (Dee Cee)

We built this city - we built this city on change and hope
We built this city - we built this city on tax and spend

Say you don't know me or recognize my face
Say you don't care what goes on in that old place
Knee deep in the caca, sinking in the fight
Too many lobbyists eating up the night

Pelosi plays the gavel, pounding to the rodeo
Don't you remember

We built this city - we built this city on change and hope
We built this city - we built this city on tax and spend
Built this city - we built this city on change and hope

Someone's always naming corporation names
Who cares we're always playing corporation games
We just want to stay here baggers stole the stage
They call us irresponsible, write us off the page

Pelosi plays the gavel, pounding to the rodeo
Don't you remember

We built this city - we built this city on change and hope
We built this city - we built this city on tax and spend
Built this city - we built this city on change and hope

It's just another Sunday, on a tired old street
Congress has got the choke hold, well then we just can't be beat
Who counts the money underneath the bar
Who writes the policies as two parties spar
Don't tell us you need us, 'cause you're the simple fools
Screwing up America, coming through your schools

We're looking out of that ivory tower
Out on another humid sunny Saturday
Not seeing that smelly old tourist traffic
Don't you remember
It's your favorite public servants, in your favorite capitol city
The city off the bay, the city that spends
The city that's full of creeps

Pelosi plays the gavel, pounding to the rodeo
Don't you remember

We built this city - we built this city on change and hope
We built this city - we built this city on tax and spend
Built this city - we built this city on change and hope
Built this city - we built this city on tax and spend
We built this city - we built this city on change and hope.

YOU BUILT THAT BUSINESS (BY THE GRACE OF O)

You built that business -- you built that business by the grace of O
Built that business -- you built that business by the grace of O

I say you didn't build that, without my saving grace
I say your faith in markets is totally misplaced
Knee deep in your business; ensuring fiscal health
Too many occupiers need to share your wealth

All hail the great Obama, listen to the Savior scold
Don't you forget it now you built that business
You built that business by the grace of O!
Built that business -- you built that business by the grace of O
Built that business -- you built that business by the grace of O

Barrack's always playing socialistic games
Who tries to tell the story in socialistic frames
They just want to tax us; grow the Marxist state
They call us reprehensible; 'ginning up the hate

All hail the great Obama, listen to the Savior scold
Don't you forget it now, you built that business
You built that business on the back of O!
You built that business; you built that business on the back of O
Built that business; you built that business on the back of O

It's just another slapdown; in the socialist creep
Proggressives got the chokehold; soon there won't be a peep

Who grabbed up GM, to make electric cars
Who strangles you in red tape, overseen by czars
Don't tell us that you'll stop us, you're obsolescent fools
We've got America's children; indoctrinate in schools

(I'M looking out over the latest Labor Dept statistics, it looks like another dismal job report with unemployment still over 8%; not seeing any relief on the horizon ...)

Don't you forget it (forget it)

(This is your 43rd consecutive month over 8% during the reign your favorite POTUS; the POTUS from Hawaii, the POTUS that always golfs, The POTUS that never ceases (spending, that is)

All hail the great Obama, listen to the Savior scold
Don't you forget it now, you built that business
You built that business on the back of O!
You built that business, you built that business on the back of O
Built that business, you built that business on the back of O

Dint build, dint build that business (Built that business)
Dint build, dint build that business (Built that business)
Dint build, dint build that business (Built that business)

El Presidente! Killer! Just Killer Lyrics! Awesome!I bit of trivia to add to my comment: I actually was backstage when my boyfriend at the time, Harvey Sarch, who played guitar for Stardrive, created by a guy who took his claim to fame from the original Blood Sweat and Tears, Robert Mason. He founded Stardrive, and I always thought he clumped together every musical cliche imagined. Very dull. They were opening for Jefferson Starship at Radio City when I was backstage.

Harvey played a most wonderful solo on Everything at Once, which you can't hear unless you buy this useless thing online. My friend, Tom Malone, also from BST, the Musical Director for SNL, The Blues Brothers, the trombone player, always said Harvey always plays things that are fresh no matter what!

Another thing, I saw their producer, I forget his name, try to share coke and other drugs with all of his "hangers on." I found it disgusting. People in the music business called him an asshole! Then it was revealed he had grown a beard! Same guys said, "O.K., now he's a bearded asshole!"
