Day 9 of Womyn’s Sistory Month is a special day, because it's the 64th birthday of the Barbie Doll!

A sad thing that the black women driving around LA are denied the pleasure of gasping for air like the rest of the LA community. This is discrimination of the most egregious kind. Harriet could have never imagined that her anti-slavery book's character Uncle Tom, would end up in the 21st century as a derogatory term used against critically thinking black folks that leave the dimokraut plantation. Mrs. Stowe would probably be rolling in her grave about it.

Parker became totally contented with and integrated into the Indian lifestyle and refused more than one offer to return to the Parker family.
The John Ford movie, The Searchers, starring John Wayne was loosely based on the story of Cynthia Ann Parker.
After a Comanche raid on settlers in Parker County, Texas Ranger, Captain Lawrence “Sul” Ross, organized a retaliatory force, which recaptured Cynthia. Texans celebrated her return with a 5 year monetary stipend and a league (7 sq miles) of land.
Parker’s brother took responsibility for his sister and niece, moving them into his house. They stayed there until he joined the Confederate Army when they went to live with her sister. Parker led a productive life. She learned to weave, spin wool and sew. Neighbors brought over hides for her to tan, and she created home remedies from the local plants and herbs. She learned to speak English again and was beginning to become literate. All of the activity, however, could not erase the 24 years she spent as a Comanche, and she never assimilated emotionally to her new life.
She died in March 1870 never knowing that her oldest son, Quanah, had become the last Comanche Chief, and ultimately a bridge between the Comanche nation and white settlers.
