HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT - People's Commissar Dannel Malloy signed proclamation in the People's Republic of Connecticut today outlawing gun-violence in any form in this socialist paradise.

The law requires background checks for all gun purchases, expands the number of guns covered by the states' assault-weapons ban and establishes a $15 million fund to help schools improve security infrastructure.

"I hope that this is an example to the rest of the nation, of how incredibly enlightened we are in Connecticut. The only thing that was needed was to declare that this is a Gun-Violence Free Zone." Malloy said at the statehouse in Hartford before signing the proclamation into law.

The law prohibits the sale of ammunition clips capable of holding 10 or more bullets and requires owners of existing high-capacity clips to register them with the state.

"In addition, we're going to put up a lot....and I mean A LOT of signs declaring that Connecticut is a Gun-Violence Free Zone. We believe this will be the most effective way to stop gun violence regardless of how many rounds can be placed in to a gun."

When asked about whether there would be wide-spread compliance for registration and background checks, Malloy replied "Well...there better be! Or we will shoot these offenders on site. They'll leave their gun trading shows feet first out of the tent. It's the only way to stop gun-violence."
