Comrades,

The new mayor of Gotham intends to bring NYC into the 21st century. (at last)

N.Y. Daily News: A few selected highlights from the inauguration of the new People's Mayor of New York City:

Mayor de Blasio's inauguration reflected what is to be a more liberal, diverse administration. Here, the new mayor with (from left) son Dante, daughter Chiara and wife Chirlane McCray.

First Lady Chirlane McCray and daughter Chiara chose colorful ensembles from New York City-based designer Nanette Lepore. McCray sparkled in Lepore's purple “Skyscape” coat, which sells for $578, while Chiara sported the designer's $374 “Destination” coat in leopard print. Lepore gave the mayor a tour of her factory during his campaign.

“Chiara and I are proud to wear this beautiful clothing today, that was made right here,” McCray said.

Notable no-shows included Rudy Giuliani and ex-City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, on vacation with her wife.

Public Advocate Letitia James declares homeless girl Dasani Coates, 12, her 'new BFF,' in her inaugural speech.

“My legs are simply frozen,” said “Sex and the City” actress Cynthia Nixon.

De Blasio spokeswoman Lis Smith was another no-show. Smith has not been seen with de Blasio since the Daily News reported she was dating scandal-scarred former Gov. Eliot Spitzer.

All in all, a wonderful time was had by the worshipers. But the new mayor was forced to leave early by an emergency call from his home decorator - some sort of difficulty with the color scheme back at the mayor's new palace at Gracie Mansion.

I thought it was the Muppets that took Manhattan.

I am not expert in economiks, that is area of my colleague Paul Kurgmann whose office is just down the hall from mine, but he tells me that Comrade de Blasio's brilliant plan to make everyone in NYC equal is just what Amerika needs.

This is glorious time in Amerika! Finally, the slaves have been freed from the Plantation and will be able to partake in the Glorious World of Next Tuesday ™ starting… well, on next Tuesday. All Heil Hail to Der Fuhr Dear Leader de Blasio! Soon there will be no more Rich People in New York City… or everyone will be rich… or something. Economiks is hard to understand.

The Peoples Socialist Republic of New York elected the progressive De Blasio to free those not represented, the oppressed, the abused, those with four legs. Says neigh to hansom cab capitalist pigs!

New York enters the Glorious World of Next Tuesday ahead of schedule.

When I still lived in New York, I once took my kids for a buggy ride. And when a renowned actor/director from Moscow, Konstantin Raykin, brought his theater on a tour to NY, I also hired a "handsome" and gave him a ride around Manhattan, which made him very happy. No more rides, though. I wonder if he'll share this idea with some Moscow entrepreneurs and they'll start buggy tours around Red Square and other historic locations.

I saw this today on Facebook.

I heard a rumor that after the next couple of days dump of Global Warming upon glorious New York City, the new mayor is considering changing his name to de Blizzio.

Leader Red Square,

No further need for sentient creatures like horses to labor lugging around rich capitalists. The new mayor will be providing free business vehicles to the many homeless of NYC. These will serve as both a means of taxable income, and a convenient place to crash after a long day of heavy drinking.

The CWO (Clean Windshield Ordinance) will employ hundreds according to the NYC administration. "Both improving our environment, and recognizing the selfless contribution of our city's finest" said an administration official.
