Washington, D.C. - Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) introduced legislation today that would embrace the "sanctuary city" concept that Democrats have employed to protect non-citizens, and expand it to include U.S. citizens as well, protecting American taxpayers from controversial legislative acts and statutes that have become "the law of the land" against the will of popular majorities.

"No longer should working Americans be at the mercy of legislation forced upon them by the Washington elites," said Grassley. "No longer should our fellow countrymen who disagree with unfair taxation, zoning regulations, indoctrination of their children, and especially with ObamaCare, be unable to set up sanctuaries where their families would be safe from government intrusion. Sanctuary cities are an exciting new direction for our democracy and they will serve as the ultimate veto as voiced by the people."

"Currently existing sanctuary jurisdictions as set up by the Democrats are giving a free pass to illegal immigrants who have repeatedly violated this country's laws and are now going on to commit other serious and sometimes violent offenses,” he added. "We wouldn't want our friends, the Democrats, to be hypocrites on this sanctuary city idea. If it's good for the goose it's good for the gander. The concept of having 'sanctuary' should include all Americans."

"People have been clamoring for sanctuary from ObamaCare and many other unpopular federal policies, but until now they couldn't veto it on the local level. To use the Democrats' method of setting up sanctuary cities that veto federal laws they don't like, is an idea whose time has come," Grassley said.

Two other members of the Senate Judiciary Committee supported Grassley's "Sanctuary for all Americans" legislation Tuesday, saying that a thriving network of sanctuary cities where working Americans can veto federal policies will give our democracy a good shot in the arm, as well as protect us from some of the worst excesses of party politics... and even give people some heart.

Don't forget about the space-port of Mos-Eisley, of which one old Jedi (probably a Republican) remarked, "You'll not find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."
