It's all about the bling. Clearly she can dress classy when she wants to. Which begs the question, why did she dress so frumpy when she was in England? I think it was just one more insult to our best ally.

She can look very attractive, but it's all a mirage. You've seen her without makeup. I couldn't recognize the two different Michelles. Her shoes, bags, clothes are all in the upper echelon price range. These are her values. The same values that led them to buy the Chicago mansion when they didn't have the income to support it. So who does the black, semi-militant Michelle want to emulate? The rich, white aristrocracy. She's not alone. Most of the Democrats live large

The Democratic party is now the party of the rich. In the early 80s professional and upper-middle-class were irritated at government intrusion and voted Republican. But there is so much more money now that they have enough. They use the Democratic party as their personal shopper for their conspicuous compassion, and the wealthy can afford to buy influence. And Democrats are never slow to sell it.
