Perhaps you have seen this poster...
It deserves an answer.
1. Apparently, a century of failure has proven nothing. Did you know that "politicians" have been doing more than just "talking" about health care reform in western European nations since the days of the Bolshevik Revolution? They have actually implemented it with the result of less care being less available to more people. While those who design and administrate the system may avail themselves of it, the less equal get put on a waiting list. Who could object to the government imposed criteria on a private business? How about everybody who used to work for that company until they were put out of business by the economically impossible demands thrust upon them? Where once you could access health care coverage and choose from a range of options that suited you best at a reasonable rate, these demands shut the doors to health care access and weld them fast.
2. True, he is ending the war in Iraq pretty much in accord with the plan outlined by George W Bush. He also killed Osama carrying to fruition a massive effort begun by a better man. It seems Obama is at his best when he's imitating Bush. The war in Afghanistan coming to an end? Al-Qaeda probably sees that differently, but since you see Islam as a benign misunderstood religion of peace, 1,400 years of jihad will not prove anything to you, either.
3. Many scientists believe that sex is a leading cause of pregnancy. As "preventative care" essentially means "abortion", you must wonder why others have "an issue" with killing unborn children. Let me bring you up to speed on the facts of life: sex has consequences and therefore responsibilities. Why should anyone else other than you have the primary responsibility for the welfare of your children? Why should we be compelled to involuntarily enable the execution of your children whose only crime was to exist?
4. I'm sure you must know battalions of conservatives who are eager to discriminate against women, deny them equal pay, disfranchise them, deny them the right to drive, force them to wear burqas, mandate excisions - oh, wait, that's not us, that's somebody else. Anyway, I haven't met that conservative. But did you know that all those things Christians are accused of doing are actually done by Muslims? As for repealing "don't ask, don't tell", Obama has created a new victim status that potentially impedes military readiness. Oh, that doesn't matter, I guess it just feels good to cram your morality down the throats of others.
5. Yes, he is copiously funding bankrupt companies to develop unproven technologies while donating generously to his party. I think you would be upset if George W Bush did a similar thing.
6. If only we could put more money into public education, then it would be the envy of the world, right? Well, that hasn't worked. In fact, public education should be a warning to you about what to expect from public health care. Administratively top heavy, wildly overpriced, unaccountable, and failing more children than ever before. A glance at this poster suggests to me that you're a product of that form of education.
7. The truth is that millionaires and billionaires shoulder almost the entire income tax burden. But the issue isn't taxes, the issue is that somebody has more money than you, and you think they ought to be punished for that reason alone. Maybe you agree with Roseanne Barr that anyone making more than $100,000,000 should be executed. Did you notice that she set the bar over her multi-million dollar income?
8. We have actually had a net loss of over 2,000,000 jobs since he took office. The economy he inherited was partly the result of your party regaining control of Congress in 2006 (Congress sets the budget, not the president). Up until that time, the average unemployment rate in this country was half what it is now, and so almost was the price of gas. You want more of this hope and change? Also, I'm not sure what you mean by the "Titantic", but the Titanic could be turned around several times in one day. I mean, I get your analogy, but isn't three years enough time? I do agree that the Titanic is an excellent metaphor for this president's economy.
Well, then, go ahead; it's still a free country, but not if you can help it.
