No Capitalistic oil driller would bother with a "dry" hole. They would need to extract enough "crude" to break even, to pay for further exploration.

I for one wish to thank Comrade Irony Curtain for having the fortitude to come forward with a workable plan during this time of spiraling gas prices that will eventually lead to increased bus and subway fares, thus taking food meant For the Children™, which I might add will mean either a drop in the Party's resources now! Sure sooner or later we can make this up by squeezing more money from the wealthy, but that is down the road. No, we can drill in the Algore Refuge now, and preserve the tax income we now enjoy, while planning for an increase in the future tax revenues for other important projects... such as ensuring every Party elite has a covered and air conditioned parking space within 10 feet of Party headquarters!

It is becoming my goal for the remaining years of my life, to be banished yet once more to Sturgis. My outlaw biker best buddy has informed me the SOS MC has now purchased their own gulag in Sturgis, complete with dining and bath facilities. I of course will bring my shovel to help build socialism where ever I may be.

It is entirely possible. I remember a little bar outside Rapid City, where are the waitresses wore shoes for your own protection, no cover charge, and the price of beer was quite reasonable considering....Quite progressive.
