The People's Cube - Political Satire

Everybody knows that if you want kids to start learning, you must sing them a song about learning, with the word "learning" in it.

And if you want to energize the crowd, you have to somehow stick the word "energize" into the song, too.

And if you want everybody to love the Common Core, you make them listen to songs about the Common Core.

It's just like saying "sugar-sugar-sugar-sugar-sugar" many-many times over will make everyone think you're very sweet. Works every time!

With this in mind, Jenkintown Chronicle, the blog dedicated to the Common Core, has made this collection of 12 amateur music videos by teachers and students titled, The Common Core Café Music Fest.

Contestant #1: Very Common Core, folksy, upbeat, great hook, catchy, and super-sensible shoes, we like it!
Contestant #2: Bustin' a mean Common Core funky rhyme! Ooooh, watch out Macklemore!
Contestant #3: Get outta those dis-ag-gre-gatin' hoes, dawg! Jake An Elwood got nuthin' on Common Core! Shwing!
Contestant #4: A young folkster, Common Core sung meaningfully. We are feeling the wellness!
Contestant #5: A rap group mixing comedy and Common Core in a crazy mixed up mélange giving Contestant #2 a run for the money!
Contestant #6: A thoughtful rendition of "we are the Common Core" bringin' us right back to 1985. Makin' Quincy proud!
Contestant #7: Little kids makin' sweet rap music 'bout Common Core, this young rhymer got mad skills! Ssshhhh! Don't let his mom know he's rappin' to promote Common Core while at school, yo! Shhhhhhhh!

Contestant #10: Cute, sassy, and on the Common Core mark! The pre-K set will really engage deeply with this song!

Captain Craptek - Jenkintown Chronicle is run by several concerned moms who are fans of the People's Cube and post our graphics. Their "Music fest" post was made in the People's Cube style and should be taken that way.

Watching this makes me want CC in schools. Why is that? Have I lost it?

Here in the fascist state of Texas our Rethuglican governor, Rick Perry, refused to join the glorious people's Common Core standards. Something about state sovereignty to educate the Texas Hitler youth without the shackles benefits of the federal government. This absurd move by the fascist governor means Texas will not receive federal Race to the Bottom Top funds from Dear Leader.

An excellent idea. Perhaps after enough beet vodka shots we can up the ante on our lyrically gifted friends and extoll CC though interpretive dance.

A splendid idea, Comrade! While I have no doubt that - with a few notable exceptions - it will take significant volumes of beet vodka to get us there, that's never stopped us before. And I just KNOW that our progressive interpretive dancing will be fully and equally FORWARD!
