I just did a little experiment over at CafePress and Zazzle.<P></center>

A Tale of Two Tees

I came up with the idea of a test of two tee shirts. They would be nearly identical, except one would bear the image ofPresident Bush, and the other would bear the image of Messiah Obama. I knew what would happen, but decided to put it to the test myself anyway.

Over at Cafe Press and Zazzle, there are thousands of images of President Bush portrayed as a monkey, ape, chimp, Curious George and much worse. So I decided to add one more to the collection - actually; two more. One with President Bush as a monkey, and the other of Obama. Identical shirts as you can see by the illustration.

The Obama shirt was immediately banned by both CafePress and Zazzle.


If you follow my link, you will see that the Bush as a monkey shirt is up for sale with all of the other Bush as a monkey shirts. Cafe Press has no problem with it. They banned the Obama shirt and sent me two nasty letters.

So here are the two shirts. One is hilarious, one is hate speech. Can you guess which is which?

I do not believe you that the purveyor of free speech articles, bastion of objectivity, are acting as biased arbiters in the matter of monkey versus monkey. I further am unmoved by your argument that you were sent negative correspondence from Cafe Press. I will not be persuaded until you provide me with empirical evidence to support your claim that they "sent me (you) two nasty letters.

Clearly this capitalist does not see the difference in the righteous will of the people to protest the war mongering of Bush by comparing him to a monkey, with the vile representation of the Messiah Obama with clearly racist overtones.. For instance, it would be ok to represent say a neo-con traitor to his race such as Alan Keyes as a monkey, but not a man of the people, such as "Ca;lypso Louie" as a monkey.

Clearly this is the same argument used by Cafepress. A most correct one as well. After all, who is this imperialist who thinks we should treat both views as if somehow they are equal? Such a bourgeois concept! To portray Bush as monkey is a free expression of idea! To portray Obama as monkey is clearly hate speech, non-conducive to progress in struggle of the masses to achieve the World of Next Tuesday.

Are they saying that portraying a war-time president as a monkey, Hitler, the devil, and an idiot shows good taste as long as he is Republican? They shouldn't be so obvious.

Good point, Betty. You see, we can't use Che's iconic photo because the Cuban photographer Corda who snapped it has requested that the picture can be used to promote communism for free, but it can't be used for anti-Che purposes. The lawyers are on the case, separating the good from the bad.

Now, what did the creator of Curious George choose in this case? That it can only be used to put down George Bush and nobody else? I'm confused.

I'm very interested in seeing whether they'll be selling Obama Halloween costumes this fall.

I did a google image search of Obama... I'm 5 pages deep and there are NO unflattering pictures.
I'm 5 pages in on a Bush image search and I find only a smattering of pictures that you could possibly call flattering.

I found this one of Bush and replaced Bush's face with Obama's. Unfortunately, my image editing software is acting up and it would not properly colorize the image.
