The presidential portrait: Weird, but fitting for a narcissist-in-chief

Demonstrating once again a serious deficit of seriousness, almost alone in taking himself seriously, as most people won't any longer, Barack Hussein Obama unveiled two portraits of himself and his wife.

One cannot help but be reminded that these two works of industrial design barely adequate for a Hallmark card embarrassingly look like cartoons painted on high-grade canvas. Wholly improperly conceived as either serious art or dignified enough to be hung along the row of presidents similarly honored in the corridors of the White House, not only do we see in these mind-numbingly tasteless works a deficit in seriousness, but we see an absence of cultural depth.

President Obama's official portrait is somewhat peculiar but I think it captures the essence of the man . . .

I thought Michelle's portrait was inspired by the television test pattern. I started playing with it to see what happens, and made another discovery, sort of like the Da Vinci code. I call it The Obamas' Code.

Both portraits remind me of the kind of pictures where they tell you if you stare at them long enough, they'll start moving or they'll turn into some other image or reveal a hidden message.

Someone on FB posted an extreme close-up to show there's a sperm cell running down the left side of Obama's forehead, and that it's something the artist puts in all his paintings. It looks like a trickle of sweat, but it can't be. Everyone knows Obama doesn't sweat.

Obama painter Kehinde Wiley was [ ... ] notorious for a pair of paintings depicting white women beheaded by black women. Wiley being gay, it's likely that a psychologist would call this "displacement."

I don't think it was "displacement." It was Michelle's daydreaming catharsis.

Since Obama's portrait was unveiled, I've received a flurry of text messages from outraged artist friends I made while living in New York. No, they weren't outraged because they saw Kehinde Wiley's other painting that feature black women murdering white women. They were outraged because Kehinde Wiley is a terrible artist who only rose to prominence, something they have been attempting to do their entire lives, in the art world because he is a racist gay black man. And if that weren't enough: he doesn't even paint his own work.

A common technique used, especially by Chinese labor “painters” who mass produce work, is to repeat a pattern over and over rather than use an artist's intuition to create a scene.

And...there are 6 fingers on his left hand.......

Who wore it better? MOO or Grace Jones?

There is no way his fragile ego will be able to take the public ridicule. I expect this “portrait” to be quietly retired to a Chicago bathhouse and another one commissioned for the Smithsonian that makes him look like he was present at the signing of the Constitution.

What Wiley and his subjects do behind the scenes may be none of our business, but his paintings kiss and tell. Saint Andrew grinds his crotch against a wooden cross, and in case we don't quite get it, Wiley has painted free-floating spermatozoa across the canvas.

The same goes for the bear of a fellow in Napoleon Leading the Army Over the Alps, which could be subtitled “(Through a Light Ejaculate Mist).”

And if the painted tadpoles aren't sufficiently suggestive, several of the gilded frames contain sperm reliefs of their own. (Talk about painting outside the lines.)

Now there's Bukake Obama's portrait with a large spermatozoa on his temple. Very presidential.

As much as Snopes denies it (without actually showing the spermatozoa, but another part of the image); the Village Voice recently ran an article calling Kehinde Wiley 'pervy' and commenting on how spermatozoa was snuck into much of his work.
