Prager U just came out with a video that exemplifies everything wrong with arguments against socialism based on economics.

As much as everything in the video is true the argument misses the forest for the trees.

The reason socialism doesn't work is because it isn't government. It is the denial of us to our government.

When Obamacare was first passed and went into effect there were those who were happy about it because they imagined that it took some of the work of the governance of their lives out of their hands. Conversely, those opposed to Obamacare saw that it would prevent them from their right to govern their own lives in these vital matters.

The Left appeals to the lowest form of corruption: the desire to live without any responsibility of the hard work of governing your own life. Socialism is the promise of this personal corruption. The opposite of Government isn't tyranny. The opposite of Government is corruption. Tyranny finds purchase by the corruption of weak minded people.

This issue is about your right to govern your own life. There is no issue in politics more important.

The Left is quite happy to keep arguments against socialism at the level of wonky economic arguments.

Obamacare is wrong because it is a violation of your right to govern your own life.
