I'm a subscriber to a bloke on youtube who calls himself "bald and bankrupt". He makes travel videos, but not the kinds of ones you see where people go to expensive, popular places and do expensive, popular things.
Instead, he goes to countries and places not often seen or filmed, a lot of times never filmed or known of, and instead of staying in the touristy areas (in the very few places he goes to that have them), he gets out among the real people and interacts with them. He has traveled all throughout the former Soviet bloc, to India, and now he's in Cuba.
In the Cold War times, there were often films of Soviet towns and supermarkets, desolate, falling down, and all of it caused by Socialism, not because the average Soviet joe wanted his town to be that way. This is a modern-day version of those films.
He did 3 videos on his time there. I recommend to watch them all. If you only have time for one, watch the last one.
And if you want a bit more, there's also a "behind-the-scenes" video of footage that didn't make the original cut.
