President Putin has announced plans to hold a referendum in Georgia to determine when the southern state will become an independent republic to be absorbed into the Russian Federation. The timetable for the planned plebiscite will be sometime before the scheduled elections in November.
Putin is claiming that Georgia has always been historical Russian territory and should therefore be permitted to return to the Russian fold. He stated that it is imperative that a government friendly to Russia be constituted in the state. He also stated that any resistance to the referendum, its results and subsequent annexation by Russia will be considered direct attacks on Russian sovereignty and that Russia will “…defend our sovereignty by any means necessary.”
Governor Kemp vowed to never allow Russia to annex the state and will mobilize the Georgia National Guard to ensure the referendum never takes place.
Stacey Abrams proclaimed that “This is more proof that Governor Kemp is a Putin puppet.”
President Biden was unavailable for comment as he was wandering around the grounds of his beach house, in Delaware, in his underwear, shaking his fists at clouds and asking when his imaginary friend was going to bring him more ice cream.
