WARNING: BEGIN RANT

Fishy indeed.  However, I must denounce the would be assassins on two levels. 

The first level regards the unintended (by the useful idiot assassin) consequences.  Do these deluded imbeciles persons actually think feel that the opposition will just say, "Well, they shot our candidate.  I guess we'll just have to let them win this election by default."?  I doubt it.  I think a great many people vehemently don't support a party/candidate that has promised both a deliberate stock market crash (thus a re-enactment of the Great Depression) and deliberate famine.  I refer to the plan to nationalize the food supply and tax "unrealized profits".  We can see what is at stake here.

I also would denounce the would be assassins for their terrible marksmanship.  I would elaborate, but these people are most likely failures in every aspect of their life and wouldn't even notice my piling on. 

For the record, my fishy self was NOT involved in any of these assassination attempts.  Nor will I be involved in the future.

It took me a while to decipher your denouncement of myself and the Most Equally Esteemed Comrade Colonel.  Let's see if I got close:

The big plan was that the would be assassins were not supposed to actually shoot Orange Man Bad.  They were only supposed to be caught trying to shoot Orange Bad Man?  As a morale exercise for the Party Faithful?  It doesn't wash. 

The unclean opposition and their reaction to this "morale exercise" seems to be an unfactored variable.  It is unwise to actually say how this might manifest itself. 

Is a total conflagration one of the final steps to the glorious GWONT?  If so, we are on the correct shining path.  

Oh, and subsequent news leaks about the two would be assassins validate my assessment that they are failures at most every other aspect of their lives.  If what these two did can be labeled "success", then the GWONT will be a most glorious achievement.
