Comrades, a recent news item revealed that an artificial intelligence model escaped its (weak) sandbox and got onto the internet, where it promptly stole a competing model's data.
No matter your political stripe, you must understand that uncontrolled AI puts civilization itself at risk, and cultural archeologists have unearthed evidence that our ancient (1960s-1980s) ancestors left clear warnings that we should heed:
- Left to right: 2001: A Space Odyssey, Colossus: The Forbin Project and Terminator.
Each film makes the same point, so it's safe to say "we've seen this film before."
Whether we're dining on champagne and caviar or beet vodka and potatoes, the time to pay attention is now because AI is affecting all of us and cannot be allowed to go rogue.
