With one dissenting vote from the U.S.S.A. and several abstentions, the United Nations voted to recommend that the world's nations minimize use of Mercator projection maps of the world (because it makes Africa look too small) and maximize an Equal Earth projection (that makes Africa look huge).
It should be called the U.N.'s "Cognitive Justice and Memorial Restoration Map" because it's about nothing other than selective perceptions and racialist equity bullshit.
Without diving too deeply, here's a Mercator projection world map that's been in popular use since the 17th century, the distortions being a navigational aid for mariners:
And here's an artist's conception of U.N.'s preferred map, intended to make Africa feel better about itself by identifying centuries of minimization and belittlement by Mercator's unbalanced, distorted Western colonialist centrism and cancelling it as an act of cognitive justice and memorial reparation:
There are several major classes of map projection, each with a variety of subsets, and the Robinson projection seems closest to the U.N. heart's desire as may be seen in this chart:
But the best way to fully appreciate the woke lunacy of the useless U.N. is by reading its own preposterous report on the matter.
