WASHINGTON, D.C. — The FBI has finally provided a perfectly reasonable explanation for why its official records of a 2023 meeting involving FBI officials, CIA personnel, and Special Counsel Jack Smith's team contain almost nothing: the agents were supporting the Chinese White Paper protests. The blank pages were not evidence of secret coordination, political meddling, or an attempt to conceal what was discussed. They were a powerful symbol of freedom.

Critics have pointed out that the meeting concerned the Trump investigation and that the FBI's records contain essentially blank pages. But this merely demonstrates the critics' dangerous obsession with "evidence." Why would anyone assume that FBI agents would write down what happened at a meeting involving a prosecutor investigating a presidential candidate and former commander-in-chief?

According to the newly unveiled White Paper Doctrine, blank government records should now be interpreted as proof of democratic solidarity. By writing nothing, the Bureau ensured that nobody could possibly misinterpret the meeting. Nothing happened, because nothing was written down.

The CIA has enthusiastically endorsed the explanation. "The CIA has always supported freedom," a spokesman said, before producing a blank sheet of paper. When asked whether the paper contained any information about the meeting, he replied, "Absolutely not." When asked whether that meant there was nothing to disclose, he nodded solemnly. "Exactly. You understand."

Jack Smith's representatives have likewise praised the innovation. "People seem to think that because these officials met, something must have been discussed," one explained. "That's an unfortunate assumption. In Washington, people meet all the time without discussing anything."

He continued "So let us put the matter to rest. There was a secret meeting. The FBI was there. The CIA was there. Jack Smith's team was there. The official notes are blank. And therefore, naturally, the only reasonable conclusion is that the FBI was courageously standing with Chinese citizens protesting censorship. Anyone suggesting otherwise is simply refusing to recognize the profound democratic significance of an empty piece of paper."
