Recently, Marshall Pupovich issued a call for denouncement donations to help with the downturn in the amount of bad feeling ever since Lord Most High Comrade Obama came to town. Wishing to avoid official rebuke and possible deportation to Siberia (or worse, Detroit) I contributed several denouncements, one of which was "Sanity - I have no use for this bourgeois concept". I was somewhat suprised when the Marshall commended me for this contribution (before subsequently denouncing me... that's how it goes in progressive land.) But later I began thinking (after getting the proper official permits, of course) just what is so great about sanity anyway? What has it ever done for me? Ummm, maybe that's a bad question since I am only casually familiar with it.... Okay then, what has it ever done for Al Franken? The answer, comrades, is NOTHING!
Comrades, it is truly time for the Party and society to examine its reactionary anachronistic slavish attachment to the bourgeios idea of sanity. Sanity is reactionary because it reflexively gainsays any new progressive idea simply because the idea is insane. Think about it. What is the first thing that the reactionaries said when Comrade Obama proposed his economic miracle cure 787 billion dollar stimulus package? They said, "THAT'S INSANE! ALL THAT DEBT IS INSANE!!! SPENDING 787 BILLION DOLLARS ON HELPING THE WORKERS IS INSANE!!!" But they were wrong! Thanks to the Stimulus, unemployment is down to 10.2%! Thank Obama that the Congress was forward thinking enough to not bother with petty details like lack of sanity.
What about Obama's glorious Healthcare reform bill? What did the reactionaries say when Obama promised everyone free health care that would reduce the deficit with no increase in taxes??? You've heard it before; "THAT'S INSANE! OBAMA IS INSANE! THE COUNTRY WILL GO BANKRUPT, FREE HEALTHCARE IS INSANE!" Well, Comrade Pelosi passed this bill for us recently and as of yet the country is still not bankrupt nor have any taxes been raised. I rest my case.
Sanity is anachronistic because its foundations date to a time before our beloved Marx. But as Marx and his apostles Lenin, Stalin and Mao (and Hitler although he is the black sheep of the Marxist family and we don't like talking about him in public) have shown, having sanity is a false choice if it prevents you from having a utopian society where the state satisfies all your wants and takes care of all your problems. Sanity was a necessity before Marx and the invention of glorious scientific socialism; one had to provide for one's self and one's familial units, and in order to do that in the uncompassionate greedy self-interested world of capitalism, one had to make decisions, plans and such. And in order to do that properly, it helped if one were sane as these things were best done with reality in mind. But now that we have a wonderful state which will take care of all those things for us, sanity is just a useless remnant, no longer necessary in the modern age. It's basically the political equivalent of an appendix; one can have it removed and never miss it.

In spite of sanity's uselessness, society still clings slavishly to it like those gun-totting Bible thumping proles Obama is always trying to educate. These fools would rather remain enslaved in the shackles of sanity than shed them and embrace the new world of tomorrow, and their backwardness is holding the rest of us back. We saw this last week when some of the Politburo members who represented these weak-willed old-fashioned shuddering cowards actually VOTED AGAINST the glorious Pelosi-Obama free healthcare bill! What were they thinking???? Is clinging to old-fashioned standards of mental stability better than having free healthcare and unicorns? If this is the result of sanity, I say it's time to embrace psychosis!
Our forefathers Lenin and Stalin understood the limitations of sanity and the proper way to deal with them. When Stalin wished to collectivize farms for the good of society and the farmers protested, Comrade Stalin had the solution: execute them. When aides protested "That's INSANE!", Comrade Stalin cooly replied, "Your point being????" and then he had the aides executed and brought in new aides who understood that Comrade Stalin had no time for silly debates about what is sane and what is not. They went and did their patriotic duty and executed the farmers. Comrade Stalin understood that if we have to wait for "sane" solutions to problems, we'll never get anything done! Sanity is the tired old baggage that encumbers the Revolutionary spirit when it has the train of history to catch.
Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Castro, Pol Pot, Kim Il Jong... all great leaders who built great and glorious societies; they were visionaries with noble goals that did not cower before the altar of the false god of sanity. Let us be bold and finally throw off the yoke of this pointless restraint once and for all! If sanity were capable of producing equality and social justice, it would have done so by now; the fact that it hasn't means we must dispense with it.
Chairmain Mao said, "We should support whatever the enemy opposes and oppose whatever the enemy supports." This is how the Revolution proceeds; if the enemy opposes Jihad, we support it. If the enemy supports sanctions on Iran, we oppose them. If the enemy uses sanity as his guiding principle, we must by definition use insanity.
If we want to achieve the socially just nation we have been dreaming of, we must learn to think outside the restrictive bourgeois box of sanity. Let me give some examples:
Problem: US forces are losing a war in Afghanistan which the President had stated was vital to national security
Outmoded Sane Solution: Send more troops and equipment
NEW Insane Solution: Attack something that is easier to beat, like Fox News.
Problem: Skyrocketing prices and shortage of energy stifling the economy
Outmoded Sane Solution: Produce more oil, dig more coal, shift energy sources to natural gas and coal
NEW Insane Solution: Cover every square inch of the country with windmills powered by unicorn farts
Problem: Automobiles are poisoning the biosphere with carbon dioxide and causing climate change
Outmoded Sane Solution: better fuel efficiency for cars, more roads and mass transit
NEW Insane Solution: Destroy the roads, the cars and the people driving them
Problem: Islamic jihadist kills and wounds numerous American soldiers
Outmoded Sane Solution: determine why warnings about potential killer were ignored; take corrective action to root out fifth columnists without regard to political correctness
NEW Insane Solution: insert cranium into rectum and attempt to view problem from all possible perspectives until everyone forgets about it
Problem: Collapse of asset bubble fostered by Party's policies has caused economic contraction and widespread unemployment
Outmoded Sane Solution: cut taxes, encourage business activity which eventually results in hiring
NEW Insane Solution: Hire thugs to beat up people who are unemployed so that they keep quiet about it and can thus be classified as having dropped out of the labor force
Problem: New entitlement program threatens to bankrupt economy due to excessive cost
Outmoded Sane Solution: reduce costs by any means necessary, including cutbacks of entitlements
NEW Insane Solution: Demand people buy products they don't want to support corrupt system or go to jail
You see? It is so simple even a Vice President could understand it. Sane solutions require logical arguments, facts, research, deliberations, counter arguments, thinking, etc, etc. Insane solutions require none of that! One just proclaims them as fact and they are done! Because there can be no justifications for them, they are in effect self-justifying! Magical thinking solves problems and moves on while ordinary thinking is still warming up its coffee and looking for its glasses.
Comrades, the time is now; embrace insanity, for it is our ally and sanity is our enemy. The choice is between ending up on the scrap heap of history or turning history into a scrap heap. Do not ask what that last sentence means, for I am Progressive and I AM INSANE!
