Jack (not a Russian name) explained to me in Moscow that he had emigrated from the United States to Soviet Russia because he was sure that America had it all wrong and Soviet Russia had it all right.

Shortly after his arrival in Soviet paradise Jack was arrested, falsely charged with being an American spy...

Comrades,

We will wait for "Jack" to return and arrest him for being a Russian spy, we can then deport him to Cuba where he will be arrested for being an American spy. He can then go to Canada where he will be arrested for being a Russian spy.

This game can be played for years all around the globe.!

I think the simple truth is that a useful idiot like Jack would have been more useful to the Soviets had he stayed in the US where he could do the most harm. Once he arrived in Russia his usefulness was at an end. While he thought he'd be welcomed as a fellow traveler in fact he was treated as an enemy of the State, which he was.

Furthermore, being a turncoat he demonstrated that he couldn't be trusted. He was a fool and why should the Soviets suffer a fool in their own country?

So you see, they were entirely justified in treating him the way they did. It makes perfect sense to me and none should shed a tear for him.
