Notable/Quotable: What the Jan. 6 panel won't probe

Excerpt from Kimberly Strassel's op-ed What the Jan. 6 panel won't probe in the WSJ:

[blockquote]Former Capitol Police chief Steven Sund has attested that before Jan. 6 he approached House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving about obtaining the assistance of National Guard troops on the day the electoral votes were to be counted, but Mr. Irving said he was concerned about “optics.” Mr. Sund says that during the violence he again urgently asked for troops, but help was delayed because Mr. Irving said he “needed to run it up the chain of command.” Mr. Irving disputes this version of events. One obvious way to settle it is to examine documents, and the Capitol Police have produced theirs to Republicans.

But Mr. Davis reports the House sergeant-at-arms and chief administrative officer—both of whom report to Mrs. Pelosi—have steadfastly refused to produce anything to him. Likewise, the House general counsel has stonewalled requests. The speaker's office wields obvious control over Capitol security decisions—as evidenced by Mrs. Pelosi's decrees on fencing or magnetometers or National Guard troops—and any legitimate investigation would start by looking at her office's briefings and involvement in Jan. 6 security—as the top of that “chain of command.” Yet when Chairman Bennie Thompson was asked in July if the committee would investigate this, he said, “I don't see the speaker being part and parcel” of the committee's remit. And the committee's given no indication it is going there.[/blockquote]

Our Party ™ has always led the way in pardoning those wrongfully accused by rethgglikkans and convicted in a court of law by a jury of their peers for "mostly peaceful" expressions of protected free speech.

Here are a few more of the most prominent attacks (there were lots more):

On July 2, 1915, a former German professor at Harvard, Erich Muenter, planted a package containing three sticks of dynamite in the Capitol near the Senate Reception room. The explosive detonated around midnight and during a time when the Senate had been on recess.

On March 1, 1954, four Puerto Rican Americans fired guns in the House of Representatives, injuring five congressmen. President Jimmy Carter commuted one of their sentences in 1977, and granted clemency to the other three in 1979.

On March 1, 1971, a bomb exploded in the Capitol building. While the explosion did not injure anyone, it caused some $300,000 in damage. The Weather Underground claimed to be behind the bombing.

On October 18, 1983, Israel Rubinowits brought a home-made bomb into Congress. He was deported to Israel.

On November 7, 1983, a bomb tore through the second floor of the Senate wing of the Capitol. The device detonated late in the evening and no one was harmed. The May 19th Communist Organization claimed responsibility. Susan Rosenberg was associated but not directly involved. Laura Whitehorn and Linda Evans were jailed but President Clinton commuted their sentences 16 years later.

In 1998, a man who claimed the U.S. was plagued by cannibalism and a fictional disease caused the fatal shooting of two Capitol Police officers. He was institutionalized.

Now, just hold up your minds, comrades.

Every comrade knows probing a head of a chain of events is not how problems are solve-d. NO! What are you comrades free thinking, here? Poking and probing Pelosi's emails and memos as if Nancy Pelosi, duly elected by the people of her San Francisco District had a solution, or was part of a solution to blow up the Capitol building and the hateful, oppressive constitutional republic it represents. Anything going on in Speaker Pelosi's office was because of Trump. Trump and the hateful, oppressive, constitutional republic Donald Trump loves and wanted to force on everyone!

Some comrades in this oppressive constitutional republic, nearly destroyed by Trump and his constitutional republic supporters, have the unmitigated gaul to want sh*t like FEDSURRECTION to stop. So, now the oppressive allegation is to probe Pelosi, as if she was the head of some chain of command sh*t to destroy Trump the oppressor of every comrade's will to just sh*t wherever and whenever they want, without a probe or penalty. !!!

Besides, as Colonel O timelines, this sh*t has been going on for a century. Pelosi didn't start the sh*t, she just kept it going, and that's why she's looking for a new home in Florida, rather than San Francisco.
