Comrades, are we through with the Republican Party? Has it gone the way of its aged Whig predecessor? Is it time to form a conservative party, perhaps even a more official TEA Party?

I think in answering that question, there are two primary considerations among others that my esteemed and enlightened comrades may address:

On the one hand, ever since the days of the Federalists and the Democrat-Republicans, America has stubbornly remained essentially a two party system. Throughout American history, third parties have only managed to torpedo the hopes of candidates in a major party. Just such a thing happened to Henry Clay, Taft, George HW Bush, Bob Dole, and perhaps to Al Gore when some crucial liberal votes in Florida went to Ralph Nadar.

But on the other hand, the Republican Party quickly forgets who elected them and for what purpose they were elected.

While there are some happy conservative exceptions who are perhaps more deeply resented by the establishment than they are by the opposition, wouldn't it be a good thing to have a party that is genuinely conservative?

Visualize small government and individual liberty.

Your thoughts?

Komissar Blogunov - your post inspired me to cannibalize Maksim's earlier "Minuteman" poster and, in the spirit of equality of results, create this new poster for the new times.

Comrade, this was discussed recently on a Canadian blog I also enjoy. It worked in Canada. Earlier this year Sarah Palin talked of bringing the GOP together (finding a place for all, especially Ron Paul's group) for fear of a splintering of the party. I think maybe the last election and the current negotiations led by Boner show that it's already splintered and perhaps time to let the RINOs breathe their death rattles while the conservatives, libertarians, and true independents find a place where they can elect people serious about fiscal responsibility and keeping people free.

A second country yes but not a third party, such would lead at best to influencing a plank or two of the Demopublican Party for all the change that brings. Our non-Parliamentary, plurality take all Constitution doesn't allow it.

Besides party faction presumes bargaining and negotiating, which in turn relies on at least two or more rational beings. Really Comrade? Take a look around.

We should not bargain nor negotiate with terrorist.

Just a little update.....

It would be easier to found a new republic than to win a national election with a third party.

Unfortunately for us our generation is now called on to shoulder the heavy burden of relighting the fire of liberty in the belly of Man. If this can be done then that fire in the belly will bring out the very best in the right people in the right places at the right time.

I'm working on stoking that fire with everything I've got. To me this is a fight of life or death. And I'm no Cato, baby.

The Republican Party was a 3rd party in its time. The Whigs didn't want to be radical enough to put abolishing slavery in its platform, and Lincoln and the Republicans ran on abolishing slavery. It pissed off the South, not just in Lincoln being anti-slavery, but more because as a third party he wasn't even on the ballot in many southern states.

My "radical" solution for a high-power viable 3rd party that could win elections: Run on a platform that emphasizes the rule of law, specifically that the fraudsters behind the housing bust go to jail, the Sherman and Clayton acts (anti-monopoly) be enforced against a monopolized health care system, and altogether ripping apart the unconstitutional and unlawful power that the politically connected have built up for themselves.

That, I think, is the key issue here -- whether or not anybody has the right to exempt themselves from the rules by getting so big that "the system" depends on them. If they do have that right, then the rule of law means nothing, the Constitution means nothing, and we don't have real freedom because the well-connected can violate your inalienable rights.

Perhaps it is time for the DNC to make it official that they are the National Socialist Workers Party of the USA.

A third party may be an option, but we may be far beyond that point.

As to a third American Revolution…. Consider that the second – the war of Federal aggression – that could be likened to a wife beating up her husband to keep him from divorcing her …

The wife would no longer have to treat her spouse with honor or respect – she can simply say Shut up or you'll get more of what you got before.

After that point the one spouse becomes the virtual prisoner of the other.

Would we as a society allow that kind of martial arrangement?

Then why are we allowing that kind of arrangement to be our society?

It settled the argument by the sheer force of arms – it didn't do it by the force of law.

If one can enter into an agreement, why can't one leave that agreement?

That's the best description of the so-called "civil" war I've ever heard, especially if you understand that the reason for the attempted divorce was that the husband was already beating the wife.

Sadly, we're at a conundrum stop on the wheel of history - after a century of intentionally dumbing down the masses via the educational system and the media, the culprits behind our current mess have pretty much achieved what they set out to do. The vast majority of Americans have no idea where America came from in the first place, or how, or why. They're still sufficiently comfortable that they don't care (this will, of course, change, and likely very soon).

As long as they're relatively comfortable - and especially if they're being "given" free stuff - nothing is going to change. And if the coming slide into being UNcomfortable is gradual, nothing will change for a long time. The gradual slide (think frog in boiling water) to where we are now was accomplished intentionally; it's hard to say whether the power-mad rulers now in charge will be smart enough to gradually ramp the country down or not. My guess is that they're so far removed from reality it's going to come quickly, because they think they're invincible.

The problem is going to be this, as I see it: once the people ARE uncomfortable enough to demand a return to freedom, does our dumbed down, lazy citizenry have a sufficient percentage of quality people (as there was 230 years ago) to do whatever is necessary? Be it by political or whatever means? At this juncture, in 2012, I'd have to say that the results of the last election suggest it does not.

I think we're in it for the long haul, people. And we haven't even talked yet about Iran EMPing our unprepared a**es or general worldwide jihad :)

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm afraid it's much too late for a third party. This past election has proven that the majority of people in this country choose to vote themselves free stuff. I believe this is a direct result of this nation's utter failure to secure our southern border. The current situation will only get worse as we continue to ignore the border. In fact, I believe that blanket immunity for those already here is inevitable. We, the fiscally responsible, patriotic citizens of this country are now the voting minority. There is no longer hope at the polls.

The following was posted on another forum I frequent. It sounds crazy, but just might work?

Okay, first, this is not about crack, but it is about free stuff, and how Americans need to end our era of entitlements, and do it now, while we still can avoid total ruin, and lots of bloodshed.

Also, I want to point out this is a totally bloodless movement. It has no armed rebellion, no riots in the streets and nobody has to do anything illegal at all.

What you will no longer be is a puppet or sheeple for the corrupt DC leaders, and crooks in Wall St.

You will have to give up some things for a short time. Dang few things however.

You run the risk of losing your house, but in the sense that your house is already worth less than the amount you are paying on it, who really loses there?

You might have to declare bankruptcy, or change how you live in some cases. Most of us will not miss the car payments however. And I know that nobody will miss paying their house payments for a period of time.

The basic truth of this movement is to stop paying corrupt banks, and DC leaders the money they need to fund their power base.

In the election, nearly half of the nation voted for more free stuff.

They either get free stuff, or think people should have free stuff from the government, and they support this "Socialism" idea that free stuff is something you and I are entitled too as humans in the USA.

So, the idea of personal responsibility was thrown aside, give me free stuff, or give me more free stuff was the call of the day.

Who pays?

Who buys all the free stuff? Well, if you taxed the rich 100%, they can't even pay for all the free stuff, not even 100 days of it at the current spending levels in DC. What about the other 265+ days? Who pays then?

The middle class.

Yep, you and I my friends, we pay for all the free stuff. Yet do you get serious tax loopholes that allow you to write off much? How about benefits from the Feds? Any free healthcare? Roads? Bridges? Schools? How's that working out for you all?

The roads are full of potholes, the bridges collapse, the schools are failing us, and only the poor get free healthcare, live in free homes, and have free food filling up their kitchens while you and I eat cheap, to try and make the next house payment.

How can we fix this mess?

What solutions does DC offer us?

The "Republicans" offer lower taxes, less government regulations, and more jobs... The "Democrats offer higher taxes on the rich, more government jobs and protections to keep it fair for everyone, and more jobs....

What a joke.

NOBODY points out that spending on FREE STUFF has become so massive, our nation can no longer exist much longer.

The people with their hands out for free stuff exceed what those working hard can provide without massive new taxes on those that work. Not just the very rich, but ANYONE who works will be taxed, and those taxes will be higher and higher to cover the increasing costs of those that refuse to work, or can not work, or are retired from working.

What's worse, is those that game the system, have a "spouse" that's on free stuff, and work themselves, so you get income, but also live free with your "spouse" on the federal dime.

You see reporting of mothers with kids from many fathers, who have no plans to ever end getting free stuff, and demand that you and I pay for their every need. Including cell phones and other things not needed to exist, such as TV, internet and nice stuff in their homes.

Businesses are willing to cash in/out food stamps for actual cash, and it happens every day that food stamp money is used to buy things like booze, and cigs.

Healthcare is a joke to these folks, it's free for them, and they have no other responsibilities in life, indeed, YOUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO THEM.

So, how are we going to solve this problem my friends?

The idea that corrupt DC leaders will solve the problem is a pipe dream, and smoke and mirrors at best. There is no serious resolve to fix the broken system. For decades, we have watched them kick the can down the street, all while building themselves power and personal wealth, while the average citizen has seen their taxes go up, and return on those taxes go down year after year after year.

The only way I see to fix the system, is to BREAK IT from the inside out.

The laws are there to support you. Use them. Go sign up for food stamps. Get free healthcare. Get assistance on your housing. Get assistance on your power bill, water bill etc. Get free cell phones. Get signed up for disability. Go get and find the maximum amount of free stuff you can get, and suck the very life out of the system that is indeed, killing our nation.

Kill it from the inside out. Do it with purpose, and go sign up for Federal Student loans, and improve your education, so when the system fails, and it will, you will be ready to get a better job/career going forward into the next period of time in our nation's history.

This includes stopping the payment of ANY upside down loans. Sell off your cars if you must, get a vehicle with less than 7000.00 value, prepare for hard times ahead with food/water storage, and have a plan to deal with the system collapsing under it's own weight. Get your friends, family and neighborhoods to work together to take down entire towns, overloading the fed system of free stuff. The Wall St. banks will scream and cry out that they will collapse the economy...

Yay. That's the first step in the DC re-set. When the free stuff ends, the power these bozo's have will END.

When tens of millions more are on the dole, the system will break the banks, and the DC bozos.

REAL change will happen. Real changes to entitlement spending will have to be put into place, and people will have to work for what they get again. (And this will be better for the nation, much better than it is now.)

Banks, if they want to remain, will have to re-set loans, rates and values. I know from personal experience, they will do this. They will give you better interest rates, and they will write off part of their loan, just to get you back to where you pay them money every month again.

Will it be painless?

Of course not. You might lose cable TV. Or have to drive a car that's not brand new.
You might have to declare bankruptcy, but I doubt it. (Imagine the overload on the system there with say 20 million or more being dumped into the system...)

Housing prices will fall, but in the end, the market forces will correct to a new level, and one that's based on reality, not some propped up fantasy level we have today.

And in a few years, when the DC folks have been broken, and the more than 60% of fed spending we have now has ENDED on entitlements, our nation will be better off for it.

I would not be surprised that wages improve, and since many who use this plan to their benefit will have improved their education, what millions make now will go up, as the nation recovers into the next page of history, better off for the changes, and hopeful for a brighter future.

As much as I like Red's graphic, and Krasnodar's weapons upgrade, I'm not convinced any image with one white guy is going to sell .... Maybe call it the 1/3 Party: 1/3 of the party may not agree 100% with the other 2/3, but 1/1 of us agree that the 47% are screwing this whole thing up.

The spouse who is being abused and cannot leave has no options, and the abused has no reason to stop their abuse – we would not let this go on in a relationship but we blithely let it go on in our nation.

As I pursued the interwebs I have come across similar contentions with regard to the dead-end road we are on being primarily on the shoulders of the government indoctrination centers (education system) and the Bull Spew Media (BSM).

If we are to return to the course of freedom those tow sources of cultural rot need to be changed or excised.

The only bright spot I can see in all of this is that the Left's agenda is doomed to failure as it always is – the only question is how long and how much suffering we will need to endure before a new day dawns for US.

Third parties, Libertarians in my case, are a convenience to avoid committing mortal civic sin in the ballot box. Especially when many jurisdictions, my own included, do not tally 'None of the Above' write ins. (whereas some jurisdictions can tell you precisely how many votes Santa Claus and Mickey Mouse got). Many ideas abound about exactly how Atlas will Shrug...the baby steps should at least start flipping the finger off at the parasites now and work on a full divorce later. Resolutions reminding the Federal Goobermit that powers not explicitly given D.C. belong to the States and to the People. But the common thread is that 'viable' and 'creditable' action has, is, and of right ought to be conducted through the sovereign State governments.

For example I should like my government to start flying Florida's flag above that of the USSA, and the school curriculum should push local and State civics and history.

Secessionism has been on the table since even before the 1787/9 Constitution was even submitted for approval. (if we do this or don't do that the mid Atlantics won't ratify for example). And even if never achieved its 'checks and balance' value, like the 2nd Amendment will serve.

Doing everything through the State governments turns wishful thinking and the competition of solutions into what is Civil and hence credible.

As long as we are imagining.

There is an essential problem we face. We live in a geopolitical convention called the “United States”, but in reality we are two countries, one of makers consisting of you, my fellow comrades and our brothers and sisters, and the takers, who support the kakistocracy.

Since the kakistocracy will not leave, and will not relinquish their illegal control, the question becomes: how do we remove power from those who unlawfully claim to wield it over us?

We recognize that man has the in-built need to achieve and succeed and that each is able to determine what he or she can accomplish and produce with his or her own God-given ability. Really, there is only one solution: we makers must divorce ourselves from the feral government and its support system. No matter what form that divorce takes, it must be accomplished or we will all slide down the slippery slope of this socialist morass that DC is foisting on us into the inevitable pit of slavery, as history has proven on every such occasion everywhere and every time.

How to separate from those who unlawfully claim power without weakening our ability to live cooperatively as people who have reclaimed their liberty must be the focus of our diligent labor. What form will this Great Divorce take? Is there any viability in seceding? Will States be able to slay the feral federal dragon? That is for greater minds than mine, but I want to participate in the effort. The benefits of liberty outweigh the costs associated with achieving it. Even if it costs my earthly life.

Captain, I agree with you that a third party will not help....in fact, all parties are by their nature corrupt. This is for the same reason that the desire for "free stuff" has absolutely nothing to do with the southern border, northern border, or our lack of protecting the sky from alien invasion.

It's because corruption and greed are part of normal human nature.And it's why democracy does not work. The majority will always vote for what benefits them in the short run. I know that I do!! Are farmers going to vote out corn subsidies? Are Congress persons going to vote themselves a decrease in pay? Will the government employees who seem to be taking over the world vote their jobs away? We might have the self-control to watch the subsidized life we've become accustomed to go away, but I do a lot of clinical assessments and I can tell you it's never going to happen if you think others are.

(Another way of putting it, of course, that is a cliche but still elegant: Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.)

As long as there is a State*--or as long as people believe there is one and voluntarily cede their power to a violent political class, anyway,--- the State will be giving something, the people will be taking it, and the State will be beating us up, giving us a bandaid and demanding that we praise it for healing us.

Oh. And we don't have 2 parties. We have one party. We may have kooky leftists who by and large are kookier than we (kooky rightists) are, but each group has its share of D's & R's after their name. And I"m coming closer and closer to accepting the "conspiracy theory" that an elite group of Ds and an elite group of Rs gets together every four years to choose the Annointed One....and then fixes all the voting machines to convince the people that they actually chose him. Maybe they haven't succeeded in such a fix yet....but I know they would like to!

So, I don't think another party is the answer (I also wonder if a 3rd party would be have the success of the Tucker company competing with the Big Three), but in my journey this past couple of years reading von Mises, Rothbard, et al. , and listening to podcasts on liberty, I think the answer is anarchocapitalism. Stop voting; be polite to cops and judges, but stop believing that because somebody else thinks they gave them authority over you, they really do have authority over you; know that, except for a few perfunctory functions to protect your property and keep the streets free of debris, a bigger government than that is not necessary, and that you were created equal than everyone else at the time of your birth. No one gave that to you.

Comradette Princess, you have nothing to fear. You would only be a Redumdimski if you cyclically repeated yourself.

What we have here is a meeting of the minds - minds that desire to use our God-given ability to think and achieve, rather than merely believe and plod along with the herd to our doom. And your contributions are most enlightening; thank you for including suggested sources to further our education (as opposed to mass indoctrination, which is all the dumbed-down MSM and public "education" system have to offer).

We desire that people be free to live and achieve their own potential.
