No Comrade Dr Detroit, you need not wait for the coronation. As the new Minister of Patriotism and Taxation, I will be more than happy to see how much patriotism you have. As a doctor, there is little doubt in my mind that you have much patriotism to share with the state.

That is sounding better and better to me Commissar. Er.... Texas continues to maintain it's right to secede from the Union does it not? Heard any thing more about that lately?

User avatar
Marshal, there is grumbling here and no Texan says no. As you know, we can secede from the union or split into five states. There was a lot of grumbling during the Carter years and I sported a SECEDE bumper sticker.

In fact I just ordered a few dozen which I will give out at my office.

If Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana seceded from the US, we'd control half the oil production and refining in the US and we could impose a separate tax as do the Yankees on coal. Which might not be a bad idea anyway.

I'm hoping for a very cold winter in the certain states, hoping that blue states have blue lips.

I haven't felt like this in 30 years. But then there was no other place on earth which could take the lead--China and India were groaning under statism or communism. Now China is still communist but has realized that capitalism can bring money. The moonbats' hatred of capitalism and America will let China, which has the worst of capitalism (the unbridled greed of some capitalist SOBS) and good old-fashioned totalitarianism both. 30 years ago that was thought impossible. Now we know it is. If America is crippled, who will stand for human rights? And I mean freedoms, not what the moonbats call freedom, which is merely the freedom of responsibility and choice.

User avatar
ImageAs usual you make a remarkably great comment, one I have thought but never really expressed. In some ways, China is becoming more like the US I used to respect other than their record on human rights, but even there, it seems there has been some movement, and I expect more will come as their economy grows. Unlike those hollywood wonders that said they were going to leave the US, but never did, I have little doubt I would if I had the financial resources to do so. But there are so few countries out there that I could consider. Israel would probably be my choice believe it or not, but they will probably be the last nation to relent to the forces that seem to have taking over in so many places. Australia is still way up on my list. I am so depressed. I still can't believe what we just voted in, a Marxist cultist. And I suspect that whether he is there for 4 or 8 years, he will have opened up yet more cans of worms that will never be closed again, in a nation that is already starting to feel the strains of past surrenders to socialist aims.

User avatar
Marshal, Melanie Phillips, of The Spectator made the comment on Israel's 60th anniversary that they might be the only liberal (in the good sense) nation left in 60 years. Try The Spectator for a very sharp woman.

Adam Smith said there's a good deal of ruin in a nation. And I think he's right. My worry though is that people are so entitled, so self-indulgent, but I repeat myself, that they will not understand that freedom must be defended all the time. A trivial example: I don't smoke but I defend smokers' rights to smoke. It's not all about me.

I believe in liberty--the ability to do what you want. My mother, an intelligent woman who died, young, in 1992, said, "Your rights end where my nose begins" and I've never heard a pithier statement. That's my definition of freedom. But as I bang on I have been thinking about other definitions of freedom and the current definition is freedom of consequence.

True freedom cannot stand freedom of consequence. Freedom means individual responsibility. It demand that people stand up and say, "I am what I am and that's all that I am." And mean it. It requires a courage which doesn't exist in the age of self-esteem and grievance.

User avatar
Commissar Theocritus wrote:As you know, we can secede from the union or split into five states.

I thought Old Joe O'Biden planned to split Texas into 3 states like Iraq: Glorious People's Socialist Paradise Austin Commune (GloP SPAC), Kulakastan of Norte Tejas (KoNT), and West Texas (GULAG).

Soooo...in 5 seconds...

 • Media intellectuals like Obama and Alinski
 • Obama micromanages and is deeply manipulative
 • He is allusive, secretive
 • He is charismatic like Reagan
 • He is 1st Dem majority pres since Carter
 • He acts mature, but hip
 • Geia, The Lord God Almighty, the Fates, and THE OBAMESSIAH split the seas/crashed the market and MADE him president
 • He spent more money than anyone
 • His believers love him like Reagan was supported by conservatives
 • He is already concerned with his legacy
 • USA is still more conservative than Euro-socialism, but we will "improve" slowly
 • We are in "The Age of Obama" now and must kill Palin's character

But that can't happen until after the episode where we find out that Palin's DS baby is actually an incestuous "lesbian" clone made from Sarah Palin's egg and the nuclear DNA of her 17-year-old daughter, who now carries the baby fetus of her father.

Be sure that you have a trust fund; as you know the NYT is now junk stock. But in the Progressive World of Next Tuesday™ it is entirely possible that all other newspapers, except for approved ones like the LA Times will be outlawed, along with talk radio, as being subversive.

Pul, of course media intellectuals like Obama and Alinski. Christopher Hitchens, a man who was reliably a party member but who made a disgraceful philosophical journey to the dark side, voted for The Chosen One because of the Palin appointment. As did Chris Buckley. But Hitchens wrote in one book that as intellectuals get older they get tired and tend to embrace totalitarian solutions.

This is the most intelligent thing that I've read about intellectuals. I'm mouthy and a smart-ass and have been called an intellectual, but only by people who don't know better. Or know any better. Intellectuals seem always to go for some huge theory of Everything, as though life were physics where a huge theory of everything would not only be right but be inevitable. But notice how people who spend their lives pontificating and thinking usually wind up espousing some huge system of beliefs, which is always coercive and totalitarian. It takes strength of character, I think, to look at the world, descry the idiocy, deplore the missteps, the false gods, and sit back and say, "I can't figure out a way to make sure that this doesn't happen again. Let people be people."

An interesting idea. Just today, I risked life and limb (the Blue State of Corzania where I live has Thought Police everywhere) to read from the Red State website:

"Noted Russian nationalist fringe-windbag Vladimir Zhirinovsky gushed that President-Elect Obama is the American Gorbachev, who will end up causing the permanent break-up of the American Union in the same way that Mr. Gorbachev caused the break-up of the Soviet Union."

Sometimes the minds of the fringe-windbags are the most perspicacious.

User avatar
Suits me. Last night I visited this site and ordered some bumper stickers, and also from Cafe Press some secede tee-shirts.

Lord knows that Texas has elected some true shitheads--LBJ, Bentsen, Yarborough--and we certainly have more than our share of windbags. Perot, Boone Pickens. But first we've clipped the wings of the personal-injury lawyers, and also we can for some reason just smell a lying crook. Clinton was utterly transparent to us. And our house is in a lot better order than the national one.

User avatar
Vladimir Zhirinovsky is indeed a big nationalist fringe-windbag who mixes ridiculous drunken ravings with an occasional good insight. Imagine a weird mix between Joe Biden and Michael Savage, and you'll get Zhirinovsky.

His popularity among the least educated and the most unwashed has kept him in the Duma (a rough equivalent of the US Congress) for more than 15 years. He is also the head of the Liberal-Democratic Party, which is neither Liberal nor Democratic.

My spousal unit's favorite comic relief pastime is watching Zhirinovsky's ravings on YouTube, which are in the hundreds.

Watch this clip to the very end. You don't need to know Russian to understand it. This is Zhirinovsky on some Russian TV show responding to his critic's insolent comments regarding Zhirinovsky's quote published in Playboy Magazine.

And not a moment too soon, Gorbachev speaks up and calls on Obama to carry out 'perestroika' in the U.S. Thanks, Misha, but we know how that ended in the USSR...
MOSCOW, November 7 (RIA Novosti) - Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has said that the Obama administration in the United States needs far-reaching 'perestroika' reforms to overcome the financial crisis and restore balance in the world.

The term perestroika, meaning restructuring, was used by Gorbachev in the late 1980s to describe a series of reforms that abolished state planning in the Soviet Union.

In an interview with Italy's La Stampa published on Friday, Gorbachev said President-elect Barack Obama needs to fundamentally change the misguided course followed by President George W. Bush over the past eight years.

Gorbachev said that after transforming his country in the late 1980s, he had told the Americans that it was their turn to act, but that Washington, celebrating its Cold War victory, was not interested in "a new model of a society, where politics, economics and morals went hand in hand."
Yes, let's do the Perestroika and abolish state planning in the USA.

Not sure where the article you mentioned is at, but I did run across one great one she wrote. These 2 paragraphs say a lot...

What this election tells us is that America voted for change because America is in the process of changing – not just demographically by becoming less white and more diverse, but as the result of a culture war in which western civilisation is losing out to a far-left agenda which has become mainstream, teaching American children to despise the founding values of their country and hijacking discourse by the minority power-grab of victim-culture......

So now we are promised a change in America's fundamental values. And they really will be changed. Obama has said in terms that he thinks the US constitution is flawed. America's belief in itself as defending individual liberty, truth and justice on behalf of the free world will now be expiated instead as its original sin. Those who have for the past eight years worked to bring down the America that defends and protects life and liberty are today ec They have stormed the very citadel on Pennsylvania Avenue itself.

As for what your mom said, I will never forget my 5th grade teacher one day when he chose to teach outside on a beautiful day in the early sixties.... Your freedom ends where mine begins.

Pupovich, the Brits, even ones well disposed toward us, have stated that America's founding sin was slavery. Which I find a bit rich. We did not get rid of the limeys so we could have slaves; we dumped them because they taxed us. Also it took William Wilberforce who in 1807 got the Brits to outlaw slave trading and in 1837 they outlawed slavery.

One of the (many) things which burns my butt is how we are held to different standards. Even the Brits do it. They're old and clapped out and tired and, ah, their serfs and thanes and all that happened a few hundred years ago. And our slavery happened 150 years ago. And it's our founding sin.

If you try really really hard you can say it's a compliment that we're held to a higher standard.

I don't feel like trying.

User avatar
BTW, if you to to the Spectator website, you'll see a RSS feed. There are several worth it, but I make sure that Melanie Phillips is read every time she posts. She has some really good ones. Some about Palestinians who blew themselves up trying to kill Israelis. The Palestinians wouldn't let them back in so they went to Israeli hospitals, who treated the people who tried to kill them.

As Americans treated SS men in WWII.

But we're evil.

Give him a membership in the Cosmos Club, and a lifetime membership to the Columbia Faculty Club, and he'll see that it's just in bad form to want to kill all those people. A night or two in the Lincoln Bedroom, a movie in the White House Theater, and he'll straighten up his act.

Thomas Sowell, whom I admire because of his intellect and not his ancestry, once wrote about W.E.B. DuBois (I'm paraphrasing here as I can't remember the exact quotes) that he claimed to be a champion of the "little man" but in reality could not stand them. He never spoke to waiters, barbers, taxi-drivers, etc, because he considered them beneath him. Sowell said this is true of most leftist pseudo-intellectuals who think what they think because they think they are the only ones who can think. I think the wisdom of the Founding Fathers was to recognize that not all of us are geniuses (genii?) like Obama but even the least of us knows things and posess insights others do not. Combined together, the mass market makes better decisions than a building full of Nobel laureate economists could. Computer science has shown that a bunch of little CPUs operating on the same task in parallel work more efficiently than a gigantic processor doing the same task itself. The mass of the electorate has made a mistake with the Obamaniac due to media duplicity and perhaps some of its own fears. I think (hope) this mistake will self-correct over time. The Founding Fathers were not infallible but there has been no more intelligent insightful group of people before or since.

Buckley famously said that he'd rather be governed by the first 200 names in the Manhattan phone book than by the Harvard faculty. I have read that cities hate Democratic conventions. Although their incomes are higher they walk checks.

I fail to see how people feel secure snootering other people; you can always be brought up short. And why do it? It is arrogance, and meanness, to do so. I have people who work in my house who are not ever going to read Virgil or do calculus but then I don't want them to. As it is they're utterly dependable, kind people who treat the house as their own and make very sure that I'm comfortable. We actually like each other.

I try to treat people well too. In the service industry. And so I get hard tables in Dallas with a phone call. Not that I'm so great per se but the people who are doing things for you are doing things for you. Jesse Jackson in a 1969 interview said that while working as a waiter in Greenville he'd spit in white people's food. And you want to irritate a waiter who can spit?

Arrogance, nastiness and meanness. And condescension. Utter and complete contempt for other people.

Commissar Doctor Strangelove strikes again! That was a very enjoyable viewing.

As for the Amerikka discussion, I suppose it matters little that one of the grievances leveled at Britain in the Declaration and later struck down in order to gain the support of the southern states was that King George III

...waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating it's most sacred rights of life & liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them to slavery in another hemisphere, or to incur miserable death in their transportations thither. this piratical warfare, the opprobrium of infidel powers, is the warfare of the Christian king of Great Britain. determined to keep open a market where MEN should be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or to restrain this excrable commerce determining to keep open a market where MEN should be bought & sold and that this assemblage of horrors might want no fact of distiguished die, he is now exciting those very people to rise in arms against us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, by murdering the people upon whom he also obtruded them; thus paying off former crimes which he
urges them to commit against the lives of another.

Or that John Adams and several of the founders (including Benjamin Franklin, Benjamin Rush, John Jay, William Livingston, Richard Bassett, James Madison, James Monroe, Bushrod Washington, Charles Carroll, William Few, John Marshall, Richard Stockton, and Zephaniah Swift) were themselves ardently against the slave trade seeing it as a violation of nature and nature's god. Just a bunch of dumb white males, I guess.

User avatar
Rex, please bear in mind that to be a good progressive you cannot be against the slave trade. The slave trade these days has nothing to do with skin color though--it's with the removal of agency. We get all hot and bothered by the word "slavery" just as we get hot and bothered by all sort of other hot-button words, but the real problem with slavery was the complete lack of agency of the slave.

If the slave hate the master, he couldn't quit. These days we're so much more efficient. We've told people that they cannot succeed because of The Man. And we've told people of all sorts, colors, stripes and so forth, that they have to have help to get ahead, meaning of course that they are useless themselves without the agency of other people.

So. Progressivism is slavery by other means.

User avatar
Righteous. My bad. Okay, comrades, never mind. I humbly submit to the slavery of self-esteem and will do penance for my miscreant thinking.

User avatar
Not at all, Rex, not at all.

I learned this from an email from the Heritage Foundation, whom I used to support. They made ethical arguments against high taxation, saying that the ethics were important and that saying that low taxes increased governmental revenues was merely a pragmatic one. I was just then beginning to grasp, if I do, the fact that "pragmatic" has more in common with "cynical" than "practical."

The letter was hysterical, of course, with yellow interlineations and pseudo-handwritten marginalia, trying to invoke panic at the homosexual agenda, which was being set up to destroy the world as we know it and infest your house with termites. And of course they presented themselves as being the solution and that solution took money. They were banging on the queers because the Commies went away in 1991.

It's an ancient wheeze, of course, but if it's done by the moonbats I called them wicked and stupid when they were merely trying a tested con. But having it come from one of my own made me see.

I roasted Ed Fuelner, of course, suggesting that it was stupid to alienate a group of people who (1) had lots of free time, (2) lots of money, and (3) brand loyalty, when (4) conservatives needed all the help that they could get for the moonbats were at the portcullis of civilization with a battering ram. No reply of course.

Self-esteem is the lemma to my theory of the lack of agency. As is anything which unlinks reality. If you're praised for nothing, you'll be fragile, depending on others' validation. And you'll be angry too, when reality shows up and any totalitarian worth his salt, from Pinkie's finest salt mine, knows how to work anger.

The first rule of manipulation, whether political or even pitching some product on television, is make people feel threatened. Pose a solution. Identify yourself as it. Collect money or power. And sorry for being obvious for it is obvious but it seems to be a universal situation.

There's no possible escape from that ultimate personal responsibility if you want to be free. But damn it's hard.

Image From comrades in the Motherland. The glorious Leningrad Region Communist Party (the city itself may have cowardly renamed to Petersburg, but the surrounding region remained named after the embalmed hero) had the following to say on occasion of The One's electoral victory... May her immortal words be translated into thousands of tongues and live forever in the history of mankind:

In this case, the American left Obama should hide in a hut uncle Tom. If Obama prognetsya under pressure from bankers and military reaction, even if all workers, who sent him money for the campaign will take their dollars back.
We see what looks, how enthusiastically accepted the victory negritenka Native American, odnoetazhnaya - how happy people on the streets of American cities and villages, ordinary workers, tired of the war in Iraq, from the absolute power of monopolies, from hawks in the White House, not without turmoil look at black America - they are so eager for change ... So do not obmani of them, Barack Obama! Do not Throw these people to their fate! Do not change the covenant glorious Americans - Lincoln, Roosevelt, Martin Luther King! Otherwise, you mite price.

So glad to know that the Sonorous Unctuous Vacuity we elected took his marching orders from the motherland.

Thanks for the glorious lead, comrade! I just posted a complete translation of it in the Truth section - https://thepeoplescube.com/red/viewtopic.php?t=2597

Theocritus, back to your earlier point about secession; that thought scares me. I too am a Southerner (if Nashville is considered Southern) and my daddy held strong Southern sympathies - grew up visiting CW battlefields and learning about politics through the Southern agrarians. BUT as Sam Houston said to the Texas congress when they were considering secession in 41 "if you have grievances with the Union the constitution provides the necessary structures to redress those grievances. but if you split from the constitution you will no longer have any ability to rectify the situation." (paraphrase) That sentiment taught me by professor June Welch at University of Dallas (god rest his soul) has stuck with me. If good people leave the Union in disgust, what is left the rest of us but to soldier on w/o the help of other people with whom we share a love of freedom. Moreover, if the worst case scenario occurred and a state or area seceded and the president (whoever he might be) decided to forcibly return them to the Union, as did Lincoln, those left loyal to the Union would be put in an awful position of considering people whom otherwise they would admire as nothing more than criminals. The strength of the Union now is such that it would crush any state seceding (even if we don't like that situation it is the reality of things) and I for one would hate to see that reality come to pass. Toying with the idea of Secession may be amusing or may be good for making a statement but it is playing with fire and I don't like it much. Sorry, but after long consideration this issue has become most important to me. So I'll quit now.

Rex, I do understand. First I think it's a way to express disgust. Secede slogans and tee-shirts (I'm wearing one now) were common in the Carter years and died utterly in January of 1981.

But as for forcing Texas back into the Union? Could the Union? We have huge amounts of oil but we're a high-tech state now. A lot of the high-tech jet fighters are made here, and all the hydrogen bombs. Don't freak out, but I had not thought of an armed conflict until your comment, which I truly do take seriously.

As i recall, Texas, on joining the union, had the right to secede, or to split into five states, which would have upset the balance of the union in 1845.

Also, frankly, Texans just get goddamned tired of all that trash talk about cowboys. The sniffing about Texans. Idiots. Churls. Fools. Our house is in good order; we have (possibly) the best medicine in the world; and it's irritating to be sneered at. So one way to fight back is to declare that we just don't need you.

But not to fear. It's not going to happen.

Opiate of the People wrote:I think the wisdom of the Founding Fathers was to recognize that not all of us are geniuses (genii?) like Obama but even the least of us knows things and posess insights others do not.

Actually, the Founding Fathers did not believe in a democracy, and therefore did not even use the word. For that reason, not everyone had the right to vote either. Generally you had to be a landowner. The Senate was chosen by the voting of state legislatures, not the general public. That is a system I think perhaps we should return to. I read a rather boring, yet informative book long ago called the Irony of Democracy, It argued that it was the elite that had the most to gain from a democratic system of govt., and the elite most likely to be the biggest defenders of the notion of democracy. In fact, I could argue I believe, that today's "elite" just are not as elite as they once were. Now it is the elite that often want to shut off debate if you don't espouse their views.

One thing I firmly believe is we need to have voter eligibility tests. I am sorry, but I don't want people who will vote for a candidate because "he wears briefs" as one voter said about Clinton, or he is cool, caring yada yada yada. We have idiots who can not tell you how many states there are, what the 3 branches of government are, or who we fought in WWII for instance, and yet they can choose who I have to live under and be taxed by. No, I am not talking about any tough, hard test designed to keep anyone from voting. But look at the tests one has to take to become a citizen if you are immigrating here. I am advocating a test far easier than that, but by God, you ought to know just a little about this country and it's history if you want to vote.

It's amazing how something as empty as "Change" can influence so many idiots out there. Policies? What are policies? Obama's going to give us free stuff! Health care is why so many people are in debt? I guess stupidity doesn't have anything to do with it.

User avatar
Bah, founding fathers. They were steeped in the ideas of Locke. And they did not even have a plan to liquidate the kulaks.

Fearless Leader Obamassiah has said that their so called revolutionary document was a tragedy because it did not cover true economic justice. Of course justice being defined as "free stuff to those who do not produce". How right he is.

Winston Churchill once had the audacity to say "for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle."

Obviously he did not understand, that is what the MASSES are for, they will lift the buckets for us!With proper motivation of course.

In Phoenix I had a waitress named Livia--in the off season and they weren't busy. She was a naturalized American from Brazil. Her English was wonderful and she knew more about America than most Americans. But she was inflamed at the citizenship test.

She had studied the questions forward and backward, and was told that she'd be asked ten, had to answer three right, and could take the test in Spanish.

She was furious. She told me that she wanted to be an American, she loved this country, and this had robbed her of her sense of occasion.

She took the test in Boston when the Goracle had dumbed it down to make more Democratic voters, and handed out voter-registration cards at the swearing-in ceremony.

{4 excellent party videos here}

wow. well that about shows the voting base. I think the gentleman in the second video put it well, that Obama is a thresh of breath air, (or was it a threat of breast hair, or was it a bresh of threatening air?) I also agree that that the ethenthe of change ith that everything moveth forward - like after you ram an enema up your south end and all the fundaments let fly - that about sums the whole thing up, I think.

Comrades, the videos say it all. With the Chosen One all will be cured. Tax cuts, money for everyone, and my corns will go away. Not to mention those nasty genital warts of Meow's. Not that I've seen them, of course, but he does go on about them so.

Dr., if Meow lets any of that out without getting a hefty royalty for it I will be royally pissed. I have been carefully cultivating his lesions and weeping sores, sure that in them I'll find something which will make me the next Fleming.

Dr. perfect ignorance makes perfect proles. If they were well informed they wouldn't be so easy to fool.

User avatar
Commissar, I beleive you misspelled "guide".

Many years ago before I began working on global domination, I used to work for The Party as a functionary.

It was indeed eye opening and refreshing to see how well they thought of the masses. They laughed at the ignorance of the proletariat and the electorate in general.

When I asked about the concepts of democracy or representative government, they stopped eating and looked at me as if I had dropped an elephant turd in the middle of a white carpet. A few of them snickered.

I was puled aside and it was explained to me how we elite truly knew what was best for the people. Poor masses, they do not understand what is best for them. We shall guide them with what they truly want. Only the wise could know what the will of the masses truly was. I was admonished not to beleive the window dressing.

After confirming this viewpoint in a few more political functionary jobs, I decided if the elite and wise were indeed the most fit to rule, then surely one all powerful and wise leader could do it best and most efficiently. Thus began my quest for power.

Of course that quest is now on hold perhaps permanently. I see how my methods of monstrous machinery, underwater lairs, and weaponry is outdated. The true path is through the schools and programming of the masses to accept that which is best for them. Through gradual training them to slavishly adhere to every party principle they will find their greatest freedom!

Did I hear that first one, a dedicated patriot indeed, say he had to vote for the Obama so he could see his "thug shizzle?"

Truly the only shame about these videos that on the surface, would seem to suggest that the patriots supporting the Obama, is that it only goes to show the complete failure of the rethuglicans stealing money from the schools. It backfired on them however, for even though our useful idiots have been in control of the congress these past 2 years, that has seen sky rocketing gasoline prices and the collapse of the economy, the informed voters as we see in these videos, have seen the true villains, the republicans and McCain!Image
