California Approves Funding for High-Speed Rail Line

User avatar
California lawmakers approved billions of dollars Friday in construction financing for the initial segment of the nation's first dedicated high-speed rail line connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The bill authorizes the state to begin selling $4.5 billion in voter-approved bonds that includes $2.6 billion to build an initial 130-mile stretch of the high-speed rail line in California's Central Valley. That will allow the state to collect another $3.2 billion in federal funding that could have been rescinded if lawmakers failed to act Friday.

The first segment of the line will run from the California cities of Boon and Doggle. The final cost of the completed project from Los Angeles to San Francisco would be $68 billion.

California Senate Leaders said the vote signaled the "biggest, boldest public works project in decades in California and for the nation and the first Boon-Doggle segment is leading the way." The Senate also likened it to the state water project that was first undertaken with totally underwater finances by Brown's father, Gov. Pat Brown, in the late 1950s.

I'm so glad to see that drug abuse during the sixties has had no lasting side effects.

Looks like the Bay Area - led Legislature and Gov. Moonbeam are taking the State of California on a high-speed rail trip straight into Next Tuesday !

Excellent, Comrade Fhalkyn.

When your at the Ministry, tell them that they might also want to conceal the fact that at least...oh... 20-30 miles of deep tunnels traveling under mountains within the San Andreas Fault Zone would be needed to connect the southern end of the high-speed line with Los Angeles.

Between you and me, I'm sure that such a detail might be construed by right-wing fanatics as being unimaginably difficult and expensive.

But ideas like this have never stopped true Progressives of the Party !!!

It appears to involve either time travel to previous centuries or delayed experimentation with mind altering hallucinogens of some description.

This indecisive compromise was only possible to get passed with moonbeam Brown at the helm. His leadership, or lack there of, was the biggest factor.

At last, Obama's intercontinental railroad will be built!

Image Everything so far has been going according to the Atlas Shrugged scenario - except for the trains. But it seems that the very logic of events require the trains to be part of the story. And here they are. Next will be the tunnel disaster with Kip Chalmers. Oh well...

California is behind the progressives here in The People's Republic of Texas. We have a had a tax payer funded toy train for decades. We recently paid $15 million for our glorious toy train to be renovated. Money well spent, comrades. It is painted in The People's red and its powerful engine is colored in Solyndra green.Image

Nancy has been extensively involved in the engineering details and testing of this high speed transport. This a picture I snapped after her first test run.

God bless her for all she's done.

Something about Nanski looks different... Did she trim her claws nails?

She appears to be the daughter of Frankenstein, or just a close sister!!!
