End Exploitation Now!

User avatar
Comrades, in a move sure to be applauded by korrekt thinking progressives everywhere, once again the Olympia Food Co-Op has taken a major step in the fight for social justice and korrekt behavior. You may recall, that this little store gained worldwide attention, when it declared it would no longer stock Israeli made gluten free ice cream cones as a show of solidarity with the suffering terrorists freedom fighters of Palestine.

The goal of course was to punish Israeli running dog imperialism, and ensure that the workers of Israel would be unable to work, thus making them reliant upon a benevolent welfare state, as all people are entitled to. Recently, a local woman owned company, selling an organic and locally sourced tomato chutney was told she would be unable to sell her product at the Olympia food co op, because her label was exploitative to women. The Olympia Food Co-Op's policy regarding packaging materials and labels is a fine example of true progressive thought and socialist equality.

Besides environmental impact, there are two other significant packaging issues, truth in advertising and exploitive/oppressive imagery.

The Co-op will not carry products which make false or misleading nutritional, environmental or ingredient claims on the package. If a department manager or the staff feel that a particular product which falls into this category is important to carry we will make every effort to contradict misleading information through point of purchase product information. The Co-op will also be active on the issue of truth in packaging by confronting producers who make false statements and by education our customers about common label misconceptions.

The Co-op will not carry products whose retail packaging is deemed exploitive or oppressive. Such determination may be made by the department manager, the merchandising team or the staff as a whole. Packaging may be considered exploitive or oppressive if the graphics, narrative or product name use or promote harmful stereotypes based on sex, race, sexual orientation, physical ability, looks, class, education, politics, religion, national origin or species. The Co-op will actively confront producers who use such stereotypes in merchandising their products. In the event that wholesale packaging which is not used in a display is deemed oppressive, we may continue to carry the products in question. We will notify the producer of such products that we find the packaging offensive and why.

The offensive and exploitive label

What is so offensive about "sauce" or "sauciness". Is not soup a sauce? is iit against the rules to have sauces within it?

The manager must have some hateful, personal experience with tomatoes. Bad Pizza perhaps?
Too much anchovies?

User avatar
Have you not read their delightful progressive rules for packaging materials? And then look at that disgusting label. Clearly the woman who makes this sauce is oppressing women everywhere with it!

What did I tell 'ya ?
That tomato chutney stuff must definitely cater to the excessive prurient interests
of Olympia's citizenry.

You know, with progressive policies such as this, it will only be a matter of time until this forces Israel's surrender to the Arabs, thus enabling them to sell gluten-free ice cream cones at the Olympia Food Co-op once again.

I would suggest that we in the Cube do our part to help this great cause by pointing out other examples of problematic , non-PC packaging.

Just look at this for exploitation.
" Mrs." instead of "Ms." !
A working-class woman who is advertised as being subservient to her husband.
A clear case of sexism run riot !

Get'em out of the Co-op's freezers.

Then I can assume the food co-op is a safe haven from such brands as Uncle Ben's rice, Cream of Wheat cereal and Aunt Jemima's pancake mix.

Likewise Land O' Lakes butter with it's suggestive image of a Indian Squaw American Primitive Native American female kneeling in supplication.

Comrade Whoopie, I have it on good authority, that they are safe even from Blue Sky Soda with it's exploitive southwestern motif that actually was stolen from the native Americans. Apparently, the glorious Oly food co op is the only co op in the nation to have such stringent and protective measures against exploitation in it's packaging. Truly an example for all progressives.

The true test would be if they carry "progressive soup", or do they fondle/grope other labels?
