A film review of Live Earth Film Project. Recommendation: Both Red Fists UP!


I was reading the latest Liberal Larry post at BlameBush today. Larry mentioned the fabulous, ever popular pop group Duran Duran performing at Live Earth. When I clicked the link I saw that there is a Live Earth Film Project at the Live Earth site.

Award-winning filmmakers have created these short films, commissioned by Live Earth, to showcase the diversity and creativity of the international response to the climate crisis. The Live Earth Film Project premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival and is sponsored by Absolut.

Every single one of these specially commissioned videos focuses on facts and evidence. No pretentious artsy-fartsy emotional crap gets in the way. There's an entry featuring the greatest living actor of our time, Arik Balwin, reading an inspiring poem as images of our dying planet grace the screen:

Film Synopsis: A short film that takes a look at wind in relation to its environment, narrated by Alec Baldwin.

In another video you'll meet the last two polar bears on earth, Bob and Harry:

Film Title: "Bob & Harry: The Last Two Polar Bears"
Director: Sophie Keller and Oli Barry
Film Synopsis: Three short films directed by Sophie Keller and Oli Barry follow the last two polar bears, Harry and Bob, as they go in search of love, a home and food, only to find there are no polar bears left to love, no place to live and no food to eat.

Other titles include Sad Fish, Penguin in a Pickle, One Less Car, Polar Bear Man, Cow, Don't Let it all Unravel, and the ever popular School Run (my personal favorite, the message at the very end says it all):

Director: Ben and Joe Dempsey
Film Synopsis: This short film features a traffic officer who takes a mom to task for driving a SUV, while also offering information on how SUVs affect the environment.

Most of the videos are as substantial as the melodies of New Age music, though even New Age music doesn't ladle the syrup that's poured on in these videos. I don't like MSN's commercialization and cheapening of art with all those damn advertisements from corporate America but, overall this is a real treat. Great for the entire collective. This reviewer gives it both red fists up!

After watching Cow I had to jump in my jet and zoom on over to California just so I could chow down on my favorite In and Out burgers. Hmmm.

I thought this was the only way to present information to the public on important global matters.

Mr. Warmonger Wound, you don't seem to appreciate the gravity of the situation.

Context: the Workers and the Peasants and the Intellectual classes are rising up against the ruling Capitalist classes and are preparing for the inevitable Socialist revolution. The major righteous force that the vangaurd is using to topple our hated rule is Environmentalism and most specifically Anthropogenic Global Warming. The Internationale is using this cause in their desperate struggle to smash the political superstructure of state that we've used for so long to keep the People in chains. Al Gore is very much a part of that revolutionary vangaurd.

This film should not have been shown to the people for it gives the wrong idea. In a true progressive society the Bears would have found love with each other. Then adopted orphaned Polar Bears of the same sex and lived happily ever after on an iceberg named "loveberg."

You would have to be careful of who directs that movie. It might turn out as a porno.
