The Election Years

User avatar

This adminstration
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Lay at George Bush's door

We know we're held prisoner
To all his father's dreams and fears
We know that we're held hostage
To his media shills
I just wish I would have voted
Last election year

Crumpled bits of promise
Of Hope and Change we bought
Change the conversations
I'm afraid that's all we've got

He said you just don't see it
He says it's perfect tense
You just didn't build it
Listen in context
He just talks a different language
He's now on defence

Hear it loud, and be clear
You listen and vote on what you hear
Not too late if we try
To admit we didn't see all his lies

So we open up a quarrel
Are we better now than past?
He's still spending all our future
His entitlements all last

When he comes after fortunes
You sometimes see too late
You'll have a new perspective
When you see what you will pay
And if you don't give up,
And don't give in
And be there 'lection day

Hear it loud, and be clear
You listen and vote on what you hear
Not too late if we try
To admit we didn't see all his lies

He wasn't there that morning
When his mother passed away
Don't believe anything
That talking heads have to say.
He resurrects her spirit
In his health care bill
I'm sure you heard him echo
About mama's cancer bills
I just wish I would have voted
Last election year

Hear it loud, and be clear
You listen and vote on what you hear
Not too late if we try
To admit we didn't see all his lies
