SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Sen. Hillary Clinton referred Friday to the assassination of Robert Kennedy in 1968 Democratic campaign as a reason she should continue to campaign despite increasingly long odds.

Clinton was responding to a question from the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board about calls for her to drop out of the race.

"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? <U><B>We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California</b></u>. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing the idea of dropping out.
Clinton said she didn't understand why, given this history, some Democrats were calling for her to quit.

Her remark about an assassination during a primary campaign drew a quick response from rival Barack Obama's campaign.

"Sen.Clinton's statement before the Argus Leader editorial board was unfortunate and has no place in this campaign," said Obama spokesman Bill Burton.

Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee said the senator was only referring to her husband and Kennedy "as historical examples of the nominating process going well into the summer and any reading into it beyond that would be inaccurate."

(CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton said Sunday some people are using her controversial reference to Robert F. Kennedy's assassination to suggest that she meant something "completely unthinkable."

Her campaign also accused the rival Obama campaign of "inflaming" the situation and purposely taking her words out of context. But the Obama campaign said it was not trying to "stir the issue up."<P>

Rev. Al Sharpton wants Hillary Clinton to know that she should lay off the 'assassination' talk.

Cool it with the assassination talk, the Rev. Al Sharpton warned Saturday.

Sharpton said he spoke to Hillary Clinton Saturday morning about her recent reference to the assassination of Robert Kennedy - "and she understands my feelings firmly."

Her team did not immediately divulge the details of their chat.

Clinton raised eyebrows - and drew a rebuke from rival Barack Obama's campaign - by recalling Kennedy's 1968 killing while defending her determination to keep running against Barack Obama.

Personally, while I have never owned one in the past, I intend to obtain a"Second Ammendment Guarantee" for while it is not likely to happen, should the Messiahbama be assassinated, it is going to get really dicey for who knows how long.Many comrades here were but bad thoughts in their daddy's mind when they happened. but I remember the days of the riots of the 60's and 70's.

So was that Hillary's "I have a dream" speech?<P>

If you asked me, I would say that Obama would have to be out-of-his-tree to offer the VP role to Hillaroo, who is already wistfully contemplating her Whitehouse reprise via stepping over his bullet-riddled corpse - a la RFK.<BR><BR>
