And now for a very sad tail -

Houston, TX: After devoting his life to saving children from the dark underworld of crime, John R. Morales - who formerly portrayed McGruff the Crime Dog - has met his master.

Police questioned Mr. Morales for exhibiting suspicious behavior and hanging around a fire hydrant in Galveston Texas. During questioning, another crime dog sniffed out a load of pot plants in the suspects car, and he was subsequently arrested.

“I can't believe this is happening,” growled the angry crime fighter. “I was betrayed by a fellow canine for what? A dog biscuit?” Laika and Pupovich of TPC were unavailable for comment at that time.

Police later discovered additional suspicious items in the Morales home, including 1000 marijuana plants and a total of 27 weapons including grenade launchers. The Morales defense attorney says his client was in business to help pay boarding expenses for his sick relatives living in various pounds throughout the Houston area.

Military dog captured by Taliban fighters, who post video of their captive

On Feb. 5, a Twitter account often used to disseminate Taliban propaganda posted a link to the above video. In the video, a group of armed men surround a dog wearing a vest and brag about having seized a military canine along with weapons during a firefight in December 2013 in Afghanistan's Laghman Province.

In the annals of prisoner-of-war videos, this seems to be a first. A slightly befuddled-looking Belgian Malinois appears on a tight leash, surrounded by heavily armed, bearded men boasting of their battlefield loot.

Wearing a black protective vest, the dog wags its tail at certain points and appears more confused than terrified as its captors showcase specialized rifles and a global positioning device with a blinking light that they say came attached to the canine.
