Prigozhin's irrevocable treason

User avatar
For a few months now, Prigozhin has been openly insubordinate. Now he has committed treason and must overthrow the Russian military or die trying.

Here he calls out the lies of Russian propaganda...

...and here is an excerpt from a speech he gave regarding his march on Moscow...

Most of you know that in 49 BC, Caesar defied Pompey's order to disband his army. Once he crossed the Rubicon River, there was no turning back. The similarities with Prigozhin are obvious, except that he's ostensibly trying to protect Putin's reputation and to save Russia from Shoigu and Gerasimov. Of course, Prigozhin is no less a brutal tyrant than Putin, so if he does win the power struggle with the Russian army, I am still very doubtful for an ultimately better future for Russia.

Indeed. Russia has gone from shooting itself in the foot to shooting itself in the ass. By the time they are done with each other, the Russians may not have much left to hold the federation together. This seems to be only good news for Ukraine but it's hard to say, at this point. Things could get crazier.

One of the best insights I've heard comes from John Sipher, a former CIA intelligence officer. He pointed out that while most western nations are concerned with national security, dictatorships like Russia are primarily concerned with regime security. So it's no surprise that to Putin Russian citizens are completely expendable. That's been made pretty clear by the colossal waste of Russian lives in this needless and stupid war in addition to the daily war crimes being carried out against Ukrainians on a massive scale.

Anyway, here's Sipher (great name for a CIA guy)...

Certainly an apt name for a former CIA operative. We'll have to wait and see how accurate his appraisal is. He's right about one thing, though. Kicking Russia out of Ukraine should be the goal. What happens to Russia after that is really their problem, unless they make it ours.

Popcorn is the universal "let's watch this and be entertained by these fools" food.

Sipher is interesting as what he says about Russia is being practiced in America by Deep State CIA/DOJ/FBI operatives: Regime Security over National Security.

The result is the destruction of both Ukraine’s Nation Security as well as USA’s National Security. Long live both nations!

From Twitter:

This Russians military coup plot is worse than the ending of Game of Thrones.

User avatar
That certainly didn't materialize as many, including myself, expected. I suppose Prigozhin may get a 7th floor apartment in Minsk with a nice balcony and a simply breathtaking view.

Perhaps dropped from the 7th floor to become the breathtaking view

Prigozhin may join the Ukrainian resistance, like many Chechens have. Hell! The Russians are already shooting at each other. Why not help the Ukrainians out?

The TV series is not over. The Russian people get very upset when they lose wars. A revolution is coming.

This is a Times Radio interview with retired General Breedlove who has, as usual, some good insights into this conflict. Here he discusses the fallout from Prigozhin's aborted coup.

One of the points he makes is that while Zelensky remained in Kiev at a time when everybody on both sides of Ukraine expected Kiev to fall in days, Putin fled Moscow as soon as Prigozhin's "march for justice" started up the highway from Rostov on Don.

Breedlove suggests that as Putin's power and respect erodes, the already unlikely use of a nuclear weapon becomes more improbable as he has a military even less willing to carry out a reckless and ultimately self-destructive order.

The world will be a better place without him.

It's potentially good for Ukraine but this is a complete mess for the Russian Federation. That Putin ran away is kind of a tell tale sign that the regime is going to collapse. Leaders don't run when they have confidence in their personal security.

People who had met him in the past, like Condoleezza Rice, said he's much more paranoid since the COVID lockdown. With a warrant out for his arrest, he has very few places outside of Russia to seek haven.

So is now a bad time to ask, "Where's the ammunition?"
