J 6 Series Satirizes Broadcast News

User avatar
In 1987, the film Broadcast News told the truth satirized the programable nightly news through a script of three misfits of broadcast news finding their niche market to deliver what they want broadcast news to be in the minds of their viewers, and share love amongst themselves.

In 2024, Broadcast News aficionados, unable to keep their secret manipulation of the Congressional Broadcast of the January 6 Hearings are proudly amplifying the behind the scenes production strategy in a PBS documentary.

Today there is video going viral from PBS where they January 6th Committee admits the entire thing was a publicity stunt meant to manipulate ordinary Americans.

This explains why they brought former ABC New President James Goldston on to create the vision for the grand production. Goldston envisioned the footage as a miniseries of propaganda.

In other words, We The People are all okay.

When “Broadcast News” came out in 1987, I was still cozying up in the USSR and only watched Party-Approved News, where the talking heads had their thoughts fed into their ears by specially trained ideological workers.

So I watched "Broadcast News" last night to catch up with this slice of Americana, expecting a nostalgic trip down propaganda lane. But what do I find? Apart from some great dialogue, characterizations, and acting, it was completely devoid of ideology. It's as if the newsroom was some sterile, apolitical bubble, where news was something to be served at face value, with a side of integrity.

But weren't the airwaves at the time brimming with zeal to take down Reagan and his gang? Wasn't this the era of media crusaders, all vying for their "gotcha" moment a la Woodward and Bernstein, with dreams of Pulitzers dancing in their heads for bringing down one or another Republican politician?

Weren’t those the years when the media completed their transition from objective reporting to left-wing activism, and five years later they were cheerleading for Clinton, ready to sing his praises at the drop of a hat (or any other piece of clothing) and pledged to give him a blowjob for keeping abortion legal?

On the flip side, if this were a Soviet movie from '87, you wouldn't catch a whiff of ideology either. It'd be an invisible backdrop, as omnipresent and unquestioned as the blue sky or wet water. With everyone toeing the Party line and no ideological rebels, the plot could comfortably waltz around the nuances of a love triangle without stumbling over propaganda.

So, was something like that happening in "Broadcast News,” its cast of characters all snug in their D.C. left-leaning bubble, with ideology being just the invisible backdrop taken for granted?

In that case, the actual drama may be not in what was said, but in what was universally accepted and left unsaid.

Would some American comrade please unconfuse me?

Exhibit A:

Going Weak in the Knees for Clinton

Nina Burleigh, a former White House correspondent for Time, said "I'd be happy to give him a blow job just to thank him for keeping abortion legal." She also said she was "quite willing to let myself be ravished" by President Clinton after she felt he had admired her legs on Air Force One.

Red Square,

To understand "Broadcast News" in America, the 80's Max Headroom glitch is required. Revealing in a "real" movie that talking heads on the tv news screen were just a headroom space with a "producer/AI" telling them what to say, was mind altering to Americans accustomed to accepting Chet Huntley and David Brinkley knew what they were talking about in the 70's.

Max Headroom revealed the glitch we didn't know about, but suspected, happening everyday in broadcast news.

Well, that's a whole 'nother aspect of it. To itch his own.

The glitch is a powerful force.

This is the unmentioned invisible backdrop of "Broadcast News" and all the other shows about newsrooms where the Party line is taken for granted.

Excellent points, Red Square. In America's Broadcast News, the talking heads keep saying the same thing, regardless of the actual news. The talking points never change.

'pelipsky can hear without even having cable, all the talking heads telling us "Sure, Joe Biden committed high crimes, not misdemeanors, with secret/confidential State documents, but now he's just an old man who can't remember when he last had an ice cream cone. Just leave him alone, and let this criminal. fraud of a President finish out his term in peace. He's done so much for his family in his years as a public servant. Trump's the real criminal, here."

No wonder PBS produced a documentary about the news production series: The January 6 Congressional Hearings. It's just Broadcast News.

PBS will get a Federal Grant to produce another documentary to explain how Broadcast News produced this important narrative for The People to understand.

So Biden’s brain is mush. The Democrat lies are particularly brazen and the bootlicking denials from ‘journalists’ impressively fatuous. Another day in the Orangeman Badlands.

A media extinction event: a great illustration from The New Yorker, of all places.

Is the Media Prepared for an Extinction-Level Event?

Are they demanding President* Biden be prosecuted? I'm confused. If he's too senile to be prosecuted, he's too senile to be president* but if he's not too senile to be president*, he's not too senile to be prosecuted. Surely The Party's™ propaganda apparatchiks aren't calling for the trial of America's savior. What has the USSA become? To think the man who single handedly saved the nation could be prosecuted for some minor breaches of established decorum. It boggles the mind. Are they going to surround the White House with FBI agents and flashing lights? That would be a complete embarrassment to the nation. This has to end. We have to accept that President* Biden's brain is jello with ice cream and that he needs to be replaced with a Lizardian illegal alien from California.

So, true, Red Square.

Even “The Altlantic” knows it’s true.

The reason Hur’s comments seemed damaging is that they confirmed what most of the country already believes: Biden is too old and frail for the job he holds right now. So the prospect of his serving another four years is a reasonable source of concern (especially because his vice president is as unpopular as he is).

America has unlikable people running communism. If only Democrats could find a likable communist to stop The Orange Man from undoing all the progressive communist free lunches at tax payers’ expense policies.
