The New Socialists same as the old socialists - Communists

Professor Corey Robin of Brooklyn College has authored an instructive op-ed piece at the NYT.

He advocates for our liberation from the rule of the boss (an employer) and from the tyranny of having to work for an employer for a living. He argues that getting everything for free will make us free.

Throughout most of American history, the idea of socialism has been a hopeless, often vaguely defined dream. So distant were its prospects at midcentury that the best definition Irving Howe and Lewis Coser, editors of the socialist periodical Dissent, could come up with in 1954 was this: “Socialism is the name of our desire.”

The socialist argument against capitalism isn't that it makes us poor. It's that it makes us unfree. When my well-being depends upon your whim, when the basic needs of life compel submission to the market and subjugation at work, we live not in freedom but in domination. Socialists want to end that domination: to establish freedom from rule by the boss, from the need to smile for the sake of a sale, from the obligation to sell for the sake of survival.

For liberals, these are policies to alleviate economic misery. For socialists, these are measures of emancipation, liberating men and women from the tyranny of the market and autocracy at work. Back in the 1930s, it was said that liberalism was freedom plus groceries.
The socialist, by contrast, believes that making things free makes people free.

The New Socialists (NYT)

Now here's a thought experiment. Doctor Utopia there, Professor Corey Robin of Brooklyn College and his like-minded friends are in charge of the country, have destroyed the rule of law so as to change society, and you decide to go to the store to get some groceries.

You don't work for The Man anymore because there is no more working for the hated man as per law because that would be immoral as per Doctor Utopia Professor Corey and friends who have a mortal lock on deciding what is right and wrong for the rest society.

So you go to the store to get food. But there is no store. There is no free stuff there. No one is working for The Man anymore. No one. There is no one at the store to give you free stuff. There is no one working to deliver free stuff to the store. Deliveries wouldn't matter anyway because nothing is being made. Everyone's been liberated from working for the man and is free now because: free stuff.

Well now how come no one is on top of giving you your free stuff? Where are all the workers?

I've got good news. They don't have to work anymore. They've been liberated! They are not oppressed anymore. And neither are you. Now you are really truly free to live your life.

Hello Next Tuesday.

I could end this post right here but there is more stupid at work here that needs to be exposed.

Obviously, to anyone that isn't so corrupt that they fall for this old socialist bait and switch con job, what happens in the real world is that Doctor Utopia Professor Corey Robin of Brooklyn College and his like minded friends would take over society and you would become a hopeless faceless troglodyte working for them in whatever capacity they tell you. Those who don't disappear.

And notice at the beginning of the piece the feigned struggle to try and define just what socialism is, how is it defined? This is a real stumper according to the post-modern socialist. I don't think he's being truthful even in his supposed inability to define socialism as anything other than “Socialism is the name of our desire.”

I got a dictionary here Doctor Utopia, and I know how to use it. Let me point some things out from the definition. From the OED:

socialism

a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

"The means of production, distribution, and exchange" that the Professor tells us can all be ours for free are not things out there somewhere in the world apart from Man being spit out of some magic box. The fact is the means of production, distribution, and exchange are not things.

To the surprise of those people who are corrupt enough to fall for this bait and switch con job the means of production, distribution, and exchange are people.

YOU are the means of production, distribution, and exchange. You.

They are not separate from us.

YOU are the one that is going to get regulated and controlled. In the name of the community, of course. The self-government of your life will be taken over by those in power in the name of the community and controlled and regulated by them. If you cooperate they won't hurt you. You will be fed, looked at by the vet, and given a proper cage. They will even give you a nice tire-swing-of-socialism for the cage of your life: some books they like.

This is like if our cats and dogs decided that food comes from the kitchen. What's keeping them from living free? You, the middle man they have to please in order to get what they need from the kitchen. But if they were to eliminate the middle man (you) they would be free. And they would have the kitchen from which all food comes. Your cats and dogs manage to kill you.

And then they find that food doesn't seem to come from the kitchen... And the dog that talked them all in to this mess has gotten very bossy...

Indeed, how true. It is much much better to live in submission and subjugation to the State.

Ah, the magical world of Star Trek. Where everything comes free via the 'replicator' and no one has to work for a living, other than the fact they truly enjoy what they do.

But then the question arises, who cleans the plasma conduits? You know, who chooses to do the dirty but necessary jobs, like clean the toilets or risk death by donning a red shirt for Star Fleet?

That's what I asked my new BFF, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. And she said, "Why, someone else will do it!"

I feel so stupid for even asking her. But then, I always feel stupid whenever I hang out with her. It must be because she's so smart.

Also, how do they decide who gets to be captain? Do they draw lots for the day/week/month/TV season? Rock-paper-phasers? You snooze, you lose? You know that they don't do any of that because it's the same person every day, which means that they're using a meritocracy! And it's almost always a human, so you know there's no affirmative action being employed, either. Where's the equality of outcome?

One would think that in the future current year the Federation and Star Fleet would have found a way to overcome mankind's speciesist bigotry. Toxic humanity is to blame for this, of course.

Dear Dr. Utopia,

Be advised: I'll need an extra large cage with a soft bedding floor so Comrade Putout can stay over - from time to time. Oh,... and can I have an exercise wheel in place of the tire swing?

Thanks in advance for your assistance in these matters.

Comrade (always faithful) Craptek

So tell us, Comrade Craptek, are there enough exercise wheels for the entire collective, or is there some privilege you need to check?

I'll ask Dr. Utopia next time he drops in,.. (don't forget, you can't use The People'stm tractor on an exercise wheel! Remember what happened last time?)

Comrade Captain Craptek, Doctor Utopia informs us that there is a complaint department. If you have a complaint what you need to do is pack your bags and go there.

We are allowed to own property to pack in these bags???

Doctor Utopia informs us that socialism is against private property, it is not against personal property.

In other words whatever Doctor Utopia authorizes you to have is authorized. Until it isn't.

Conservative people are murderers of unicorns!

These unicorns could feed the toiling masses when they run out of bread!

If you change the word socialism to unicorn cake then you get:

"Unicorn cake is the name of our desire."

Not long ago, in the days of His O'liness, Barack H. Obama (PBUH) unicorns powered the economy, infrastructure, education, kept the EBT cards funded, distributed opiods, led the military, and spread joy to the children at the "Winter Festival."

Trump has turned them into cakes he feeds to his Wall Street cronies, and now like buffalo, unicorns are almost extinct. Seriously, how much longer must we endure this abuse?

Well now, I don't know about Dr. Corey Robin, aka Dr. Utopia, but there is another distinguished Doctor, Professor Irwin Corey, who was a very famous American Socialist. The good Professor maintained that the only way to address the economic divisions that divide and polarize us, is to address the actual division that divides us, and that is by eliminating the states of Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada and Utah. Only then can we truly bring together the East and West Coasts in order to ensure domestic economic tranquility and equality. No more divisions between the two Left coasts! When you think about it, it truly bespeaks a profound sense of understanding of the logistics necessary for the equality of outcome. This is truly genius!By the way . . .

The socialist argument against capitalism isn't that it makes us poor. It's that it makes us unfree. When my well-being depends on your paycheck whim, when the basic needs of life compel submission (Yeah Baby) to the market and subjugation at work, we live not in freedom but in domination. Socialists want to end that domination: We prefer a Dominatrix to establish [not] freedom from the whip rule by the boss, from the need to smile from ear to ear for the sake of a sale, from the obligation to sell only for the Bake Sale if only there were flour for the sake of gratuitous prurient satisfaction survival.

I'm certain that I'm not the only one who noticed but the foregoing statement was plagiarized right from Professor Irwin Corey's 'Late Night with Lenin' 'front-hole' monologues. Dr. Corey Robin should be ashamed and the NYT should voluntarily relinquish what little authority they may once have had!

If our nuclear weapons were used for the peaceful purpose of creating a huge inland sea with a glow in the dark coastline for safe navigation, perhaps? If the Democrats win the House in November the sky's the limit.

You mean, like we had it 85 million years ago? Ah yes, those were the days... the dinosaurs had not yet been killed off by Global Warming, and everyone got along. People were always getting invited over for dinner...

Yes, the Old is New again!
