A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.

A feminist once said, “A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.”

Then the West raised a generation of bicyclists, and suddenly the slogan needed an update.

The old feminist slogan was fun right up until nobody was left to protect her from the people who actually believe otherwise.

Comrade, I largely agree. The logo on those protest signs is wrong, though.

The creaking old radical leftist National Organization for Women does not represent women's interests and is far outnumbered and outclassed by the much saner, older and venerable Women in General.

Women in general would prefer not to wear burkas or be beaten by goatshit-splattered husbands or stoned to death for adultery because the only witnesses were the five guys who raped them.

Women in General have common sense not to be found among the blue-haired wine sots in sensible shoes who comprise NOW.

Personally I prefer Komrade Limbaugh's preferred moniker for them, National Association of Gals.  Or NAGS.

In related news, the preferred paper of bird cage liners is also having trouble with acronyms:

And why is their photo apparently of Vietnam-era river patrol boats?

Good question. And much as I loathe straying off-topic, here's a photo published yesterday by The New York Post that's also a head scratcher:

icnojets.jpg

See any jets?

The caption gives attribution to Iran State Media, which evidently follows a shoddy journalistic trend of at least the past five years—use of passive voice. "A jet is seen." By whom? Why does it matter? And is the misidentified "jet" refueling itself or the unmentioned helicopters?

Most Equally Esteemed Comrade Colonel,

I too am perplexed by the caption on that most equal photograph.  During my time in The People’s Air Force I served on HC-130 H, P, and N models for about 4 years.  The P and N models were capable of midair refueling properly equipped helicopters.  We did a lot of that.  The close proximity of the rotors to our aircraft was emotional.

The jet thing might be confusion over the fact that all three aircraft in the photo are turbine powered.  Before this turns into an engineering semantics quagmire, let’s just say that this confuses a great many people.

Perhaps this is a subtle loyalty test.  Are we supposed to parrot the jet reference even though we can all see the props/rotors in the photo?

I must commend the crews of those aircraft if they are conducting air refueling operations over hostile territory.  That is a hazardous enough activity in “safe” airspace.  Low, slow, and in a predictable pattern.

As always, an Abomination From The Deep,

Red Salmon

Please count me in the Women in General group.

Dear Red Salmon,
Thank you for your service in the Air Force! Yesterday I heard another Veteran Airman say that when he was stationed overseas fellow Airmen described NATO as No Action Talk Only

Comrade, I'd hoped you would sound off about the photo. You're technically correct but the caption say "a jet," as in one jet, for a photo with three aircraft.

P.S. I have only once been aboard a KC-130 and the thing that most stands out in my memory is the huge drop-down mirror in the rear where the crew controls and observes refueling operations.

Apologies to Red Square for side-tracking this thread.
