The Night of the Middle School Vote Hunter

In Charles Laughton’s sole directorial masterpiece — The Night of the Hunter — one of the most visually stunning and chilling Southern Gothic thrillers ever made, the Rev. Harry Powell preys on trusting widows, slits their throats, and steals their money and cars, all in the name of “God’s work.” Jackalopelipsky in conducting research for TPC SUBWH final report, streamed, The Night of the Hunter, again. Everything said about this film is true, comrades.

Laughton’s expressionistic cinematography, dreamlike nightscapes, and masterful use of light and shadow create a fairy-tale nightmare of breathtaking beauty and profound dread. After hearing a dying cellmate boast of hidden robbery money, Powell’s relentless hunt for two innocent children carrying the fortune in a doll becomes unbearably tense — a perfect blend of terror, tenderness, and moral horror.

When the Rev. James Talarico speaks about God, Jesus, and how he plans to legislate those “values,” the southern gothic, love:hate, that puts innocent children in peril chill returns. Behind the disarming smile and youthful face lurks a modern Rev. Powell — a man who views mixed-up middle schoolers not as souls to protect, but as vessels for his ideology and grant-funded social experiments.

Yes! Comrade Jackalope! I'm glad you brought it to the attention of TPC. An excellent film noir with the best performance of Robert Mitchum's career. I would only quibble with "fairytale." It is like a quiet but menacing nightmare that gets you where you live, but not so "fairytale" unfortunately these days and in broad daylight. It is no longer fiction. The female heroine doesn't have big breasts and spike heels, either.

The Rev. Talarico recently attended a tent revival for the Texas Democrat Party in Corpus Christi (Body of Christ), Texas.

The Rev. Talarico is very Fellini-esque.

The Night of the Middle School Vote Hunter is going to find that grant money hidden in little Pearl’s doll no matter how many families are destroyed in the process.

I’m glad you allowed yourself to be reeducated, KKK. Robert Mitchum’s Rev. Powell was just a precursor to Rev. Talarico and his vote hunting spree chasing down kids for their hidden grant money.

Rev. Talarico a Southern Gothic Themed candidate. He’s Flannery O’ Connor’s mother in law’s good man serial killer, while her no good son in law was assisting her travel to a funeral. Or, a kid raised by a mother/ businesswoman in East of Eden.

Southern Gothic With Religious Overtones gets into voodoo, and I don’t just mean Trickle Down Economics, across the South into some serious gothic you know what.

What if little Joey had inadvertently stepped into this excrement in the TPC WH parking lot??

Voodoo in the economics of business - and physicians altering children is deep business voodoo - is a returning theme in Southern Gothics. Talarico is middle school version of Robert Mitchum, in Night of the Middle School Vote Hunter being filmed here in Texazistan.

Well, you can't get them all. Brown snakes, dingoes  and crocodiles still pose a problem. Of course, you can always swim with the great whites. They're a little more friendly.

I thought you were talking about tickle down economics. That might be legal in Nevada but I'm not sure it's legal in the SPG.

Counter it, Komrade! Re-direct the narrative to nostalgic and wholesome "To Kill A Mockingbird" with somewhat scary Boo Radley who is really a good guy after all.

You know, Leave it to Beaver Miss'ippi version, upscale neighborhood but after Civil Rights.

Sanitize!

Works for they/them...

It seems Boo Talarico has suffered a mental breakdown and has checked himself into a secure psychiatric hospital.
