Gone But Not Forgotten (by Some)

Comrades, I didn't want to sully the purpose of Memorial Day by bringing up this neo-Leftist "martyr" but it was an anniversary for him:

Most Your Colonelness Obyezyana,

Your video sent the jackalope on a TPC SUBWH tunnel mission and I hope you find the retrieved items of some use. About 30-31 seconds into happy lion dance video, Jackalopelipsky was suddenly vortexed from cubical, into a mental tunnel connected to this film.

In the 1984 film The Bounty, the intense questioning of Captain William Bligh (played by Anthony Hopkins) takes place during the Admiralty court-martial inquiry scenes, which serve as the framing narrative for the entire movie.
Specifically, this interrogation occurs early in the second half of the film, right after the narrative flashes back from Tahiti to the courtroom:

Scene Details & Context

The Location: The naval court-martial room in Portsmouth, England, where a tense panel of British Admirals—led by Admiral Hood (Laurence Olivier) and Captain Greetham (Edward Fox)—interrogates Bligh.

The Interrogation: Captain Greetham aggressively presses Bligh on his failure to maintain naval discipline during their five-month stay in Tahiti. He zeroes in on Bligh's decision to allow his crew—and specifically his Master’s Mate, Fletcher Christian (Mel Gibson)—to freely assimilate into the native Tahitian lifestyle, attend provocative native dance ceremonies, and succumb to the island's "vices".

The Specific Accusation: The panel strictly questions the wisdom of allowing the men to participate so intimately in the native culture. They argue that the eroticized "mating dances" and ceremonies directly decoupled the men from their sense of British naval duty, effectively inciting Christian's passionate romance with King Tynah's daughter, Mauatua, and laying the psychological groundwork for the mutiny.

The Bounty so encapsulated a visual of what we read in Carry On, Mr. Bowditch, special permission was given allowing viewing with a responsible adult as required by Motion Picture Association (MPA).

"Just push play and stop stopping the video," said one overaged 8th grade male who had obviously confused the class lesson, with entertainment. By the end of the film voyage, an 8th grade girl said, "That's the first time I've ever understood what was going on in a movie."

So back to the happy Lion Sleeps Tonight video vortex that has Jackalopelipsky crawling through SUB WH tunnels leading to rooms filled with information that could be useful to TPC SUB WRIT LARGE.

Did watching Tahitian Fertility Dance And Trade Deal Ceremony incite the crew under the command of Captain William Bligh to cast off honor to complete their contracted mission, and return to the Island as free men?

The Chief was heartbroken his daughter made such a poor decision to leave with such an ignoble man, as Fletcher Christian. 8th Grade girls grew in understanding and appreciation of their own fathers in that scene.

Fletcher Christian was very different in character from the also real, Colonial American Nathaniel Bowditch we had learned about.

Nathaniel Bowditch (1773–1838) embodies the best of early American ingenuity: self-taught, practical, rigorous, and dedicated to making knowledge useful for ordinary people—especially those risking their lives at sea.

Abrupt Edit back to Fertility Dances inciting mutiny that's fixing to ruin Captain Bligh's career like it ruined Derek Chauvin's.

"Bligh's Defense

Defending his actions with rigid, defensive pride, Bligh explains to the court that his hands were tied. He argues that he had to indulge the local royalty and participate in their ceremonies to secure the breadfruit plants necessary for the mission. He sharply counters the panel by stating that he did recognize the danger of the men falling for the island women, reminding the court that he eventually tried to enforce harsh discipline to pull them back to reality before it was too late."

Captain William Bligh was acquitted of all charges that HE failed in command. The 8th graders were 'there' in the longboat, minimally supplied, and cast adrift, and they saw a commander they could trust.

Today, Derek Chauvin, a White police officer, in Minneapolis, Minnesota is in prison because George Floyd decided to belay all commands of "Stop that shit" and go full bore native in the Public Square. His rejection of police commands mutiny - to Public Square Accountability - ended in human destruction, no different than Fletcher Christian's bee line to human grief and destruction.

Nathaniel Bowditch taught brawlers how to navigate a ship which provided them with opportunity to better provide for themselves, and their family.

So, Colonel O, this is what I dragged out of the tunnels beneath TPC SUB.

You comrades decide.

I commend your efforts but not your conclusions. To try to draw a parallel between Mutiny on the Bounty and Lowlife Drug Addict Overdosing is a stretch at best.

Having recently seen all three (non-silent) films and learnt about the two old novels that inspired them, I recommend The 1934 version: Bligh (Charles Laughton) was almost as much of a prick as Javert (also Laughton) was in 1935's Les Misérables.

My thoughts were focused more on the acceptance of unruly behavior as a culture to be defended and accepted in Minneapolis, and elsewhere in the USSA. Bligh was absolved of all charges. Mutineers sent Derek Chauvin to prison for being a Captain Bligh.

Nathaniel Bowditch is the kind of American deserving a part in our 250 Celebrations. Even 8th graders can understand that.

I’m currently watching musicals, but your recommendations are most agreeable.
