So You Want to Be a Dictator in a Free Country

A modern dictatorship—it’s not just about silencing dissent anymore, it’s about pre-installing it so no one even thinks to dissent in the first place.

Step one: control the narrative.
Start with the media—state-run if you’re old-school, or just ideologically synchronized if you prefer the illusion of choice. Make sure all news outlets deliver the same message, only in different fonts.

Next, rewire the education system.
Begin early. Replace critical thinking with critical theory. In public schools, teach compliance, not curiosity. By university, elevate ideology over evidence. Award PhDs in outrage. Hire professors who believe disagreement is violence and history is optional.

Entertainment is your sugar-coated delivery system.
Use movies, TV, and comedy to package propaganda as “just culture.” Cast obedience as virtue, dissent as extremism, and dictatorship as inclusive leadership. Bonus points if people don't realize they’re being spoon-fed doctrine between Marvel sequels and soft-drink ads.

Censorship? Make it feel like safety.
Ban “misinformation,” which conveniently includes anything inconvenient. Rebrand censorship as “fact-checking,” and de-platform critics in the name of community guidelines. Remember: it’s not suppression—it’s moderation with a smile.

Rewrite history.
This is critical. Turn heroes into villains and villains into early adopters. Erase the bad parts, inflate the good ones, and publish a new edition every semester. If something inconvenient did happen, just say it was “complex” and no longer relevant to modern values.

And of course, repeat everything.
Lies work best when they’re familiar. Say it often, say it confidently, and wrap it in enough emotion to make people too tired to question it.

Bonus tactic: controlled opposition.
Always keep a few “critics” on hand—preferably well-funded, mildly rebellious, and deeply committed to doing absolutely nothing. Let them yell in safe spaces, host panels, and appear on podcasts. They’re there to let the people blow off steam without ever threatening the system. Think of them as ideological airbags.

Voilà—truth becomes a managed product, reality is curated, and the population thanks you for keeping things so wonderfully stable.

Soon to be available as a boxed set with 1984, Animal Farm, and the all-time classic, The Communist Manifesto.

Order now and get a “free” copy of Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States.*

A percentage of the proceeds go to support our comrades in the struggle against Fascism, the Southern Poverty Law Center
and Buy Larger Mansions, er, I mean BLM, and the Bail Fund for political prisoners wrongfully imprisoned for taking “Direct Action” against their Nazi oppressors at the local Tesla dealership.

*Don’t order now and see what happens……not that it’s a threat or anything.
