What is it with Democratic candidates and firearms?

Democrat Lucas Kunce injured reporter while shooting. Gun safety experts had these concerns


The pictures remind me of the "target practice" scenes from The Wire.  So much wrong.  Best of all, Mr. Kunce (AKA Mr. First Aid Kit) puts a tourniquet on the back splatter wound, and does it WRONG!  A bandage might have been a better choice.  I hope that reporter gets some real medical attention.

I was armorer for my Legion post for a while. I found out very quickly that many of my fellow veterans were not very competent in weapon handling. I used to get Garands and M1917s back with live blanks in the chambers, etc.

I'm certainly not going to disparage our Navy and Air Force guys, since their occupational specialties typically didn't involve using a personal weapon, but it was quickly evident a lot of them had barely seen a rifle in training (or since training). The good ones knew to ask, too.

The Post has done remedial training to correct, plus we've switched to AR-15s and have a younger crowd now, but......damn.

I can confirm your impression of the frequency of firearms training for the Air Force.  Most enlisted had the M-16 primary weapon.  We saw it once in basic training, firing .22lr with an adapter.  Then annually if you qualified.  However, if you qualified "expert" (ha ha ha ha ha) then the next time you saw a weapon was three years down the road.  Same for the handgun qualification.  The folks I flew with all qualified "expert" in the handgun at some point or other.  That way we got to wear the snazzy ribbon.  But when it came time to re-qualify, we all mysteriously shot between 1 and 3 points below the expert level.  That way we got to at least see the weapons once a year.  I guess the majority of Air Force enlisted wave good-bye to the officers who are going to go face the enemy.  Then they go to the chow hall for a snack and wait for the officers to bring the Crew Chief's airplane back. 

I did notice that Mr. Gamboa, the wounded TV reporter, has not reported on this incident.  Or anything else since.  Hmmmm.

The jackalope is so relieved that TPC comrades are well trained in The 2A discharge of weaponry. That’s the kind of discipline that will stop KAMABLA Klowns from enacting something, just to ruin every comrade else’s happiness.
