He said it to intimidate his own citizens. He is hell-bent on portraying Conservatives as violent insurgents because they are a threat to his lunatic administration, and he made a sloppy job of projecting machismo by reminding them that their rifles don't match the power of his (actually, our) F-15s. Nevermind that armed Americans far outnumber our armed forces and don't live on easily targeted military bases.

The most revealing takeaway from his rambling, inaccurate, fallacy laden speech is his brandishing of nuclear weapons.

Are we to presume that he will nuke selected parts of America to vanquish his fabricated rifle-owner threat?

Does he think our armed forces will obey unlawful orders to attack their own countrymen with nukes just to humor a senile old man's twisted fantasies and ideological goals?

Does he not realize that nuclear fallout would contaminate and fatally harm millions of non-combatants?

He was supposed to be talking about how to reduce crime, not how to purge his political opponents or restrict the 2nd Amendment (which he clearly does not understand).

He could have ordered prosecutors to do their jobs but he didn't. He could have demanded an end to defunding police but he didn't. He could have instructed the FBI to pursue Antifa, BLM and the Cartels instead of people who happened to be in D.C. on January 6 but he didn't. He could have ended "bail reform" but he didn't.

He is not motivated to control real crime because real crime perpetuates a crisis mode that gives him agency to take drastic measures, but the drastic measures are always aimed at those who oppose his reckless and destructive stewardship of the U.S.S.A.

I note that in the portrait-piece on the new Army Chief of Staff there is a paucity of pronouns. Firstly, "He/She/It" privileges the male identifier over the female. Secondly, there is no mention of they, xe, zir, or any other recognized Other. Lastly, such expanded pronoun lists take up too much print space.
THEREFORE ... I propose we eliminate the male hegemony, reduce the typography, and indicate endless possibilities through abbreviation.
THUS ... the new pronoun indicator: "s/h/it."
