Memorial Day

My father was killed by a land mine exactly one week prior to my birth, somewhere near Tripoli, so they said, during the Normandy invasion. He let those who needed to know that, if he died, my mother should not learn about it until at least a month after I was born. That was done.

He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army and beloved by his men. He had a photographic memory and was quite a prankster. He was going for a degree in finance at Wright College in Chicago.

Alas, he was hoping to sire a football player, so my mother told me.

I would like to think he would love and be proud of his loving daughter.

I have no picture to offer here, but I do have love to offer each of our wonderful men who gave their lives for all of us. We would not be here without you.

Thank you.

R.O.C.K.. well done. Pamalinsky, I am confident he would love and be proud of his loving daughter. I think my Dad (also WW II) would have been a cubist, and enjoy what we do here (he had a wonderful sense of humor) ... if he could figure out how to log on
